I can understand that. He probably looking at what MP signed for and think something isn't right there. How can I have better numbers and sign for a ton less.

With regard to Cook, he isn't by any means an elite player in the NBA, but he definately cam through fro us when we needed a three or a miracle offensive rebound. (Remember the last game against the C's?) I definately think that we all just kind of forget these things too easily when we don't see it for a while. Call me crazy, but I think that he may have in fact at least made an impact in the Det. series had he been healthy for the playoffs. Gortat had a nice showing, but let's be honest, Cook has WAY more exp. and he wields a nasty 3, things change when you add that at the right time.

or he just gauged other teams needs and realized that as far as 2 guards go right now, he's probably a top 3-5 FA in that dept...

1 million euro would equate to equal what he going to come home with in USA. I do think he is worth more than the 2 million he agreed too. IMO he more of a 3-3.5 million a year player.

Yea I would agree with that. He is not an MLE player but he isn't a BAE player either. He should be about in the middle of that.

It wouldn't surprise me if Atlanta made a run at him since they lost Childress or Boston could possibly be interested.

Looks like he will have to find a new suitor as the Warriors look like they are gonna match the Azubuike offer. Maybe he will become a clipper.

Well the Warriors did in fact match the offer to Azubuike, so it looks like Mo needs to have some kind of fall back plan like maybe there is a team overseas otherwise he just screwed himself.

But the source said if Evans' demands were too high, they would just match Azubuike because Evans, who turns 30 in November, is significantly older than Azubuike, who turns 25 in December. Apparently, Evans demands were too high.

It really sounds like Evans screwed up though the question is was it Evans or his agent if it was his agent he needs to fire him. Right now his agent better have something else lined up that was better then what he just turned down.

Apparently not to Golden State...or anyone else at this point.

What appears to be happening in the NBA is there is an upper class (8mill+) and a lower class (3Mill or less) but the middle class is getting squeezed out.

You have to sort of expect this - as more players are getting max contracts, there isn't much more than exceptions and minimums available for the role players.

With Sasha Vujacic of the Lakers threatening to go overseas, I read that the Lakers are looking at guess who to fill that spot Mo Evans.
Well that would prove interesting considering everything that went on last year.

He isn't a middle class player. People foget this guy was a bench scrub for most of his career until he came to the Magic who had by far the weakest SG position in the league last year. He couldn't even smell playing time out in LA before he came here. Any team with an ok to decent SG won't pay him because they already have something better. The guy is not very good. Remember how much complaining there was about the SG position during the season.

I'm not suprised no one is offering him anything. He would be smart to take the offer from overseas cause thats gonna be about as good as it gets.

It's not restricted to Evans. Look at Dooling.

There's a strata forming in the NBA - it has been for some time - similar to what exists in MLB and the NFL. Top players suck up a huge percentage of the budget, leaving limited funds for the bulk of the team.

The result is that the lower level players - the role players - get less and less (or they get big, oversized contracts and then we the fans moan about it) and the more marginal players (Evans? Maybe?) can't get those 3-4 million dollar offers they are after.

The NBA is in danger of becoming teams consisting of max contracts and min contracts - middle of the road salaries are fading.

Well, it looks like he made a good decision by holding out.

He's looking to make an extra million for a contract of the same length from the Hawks.

Return to Orlando Magic
