What age does Lebron become a billionare?
http://www.businesspundit.com/richest-o ... n-context/
He's making $38mil a year currently(i thought every advertiser ditched kobe in 2004?) and thats in a small market like Cleveland. I can see if he goes to NYC in 2010(Manhattan or Brooklyn), he could easily be raking in $70m-$100m/per year in his prime(2011-2019). He'll be 26 in 2011, he still has 7 years of his prime left! That is scary to think about. I'm guessing around age 29.

I doubt he becomes one before Tiger Woods does. He is expected to be one maybe as early as next year. He is 32 by the way.

Never.
Tiger Woods makes over $100 million dollars a year.
As a basketball player, LeBron's career is relatively short lived. And his apparel hasn't sold as well as Nike had hoped. If it isn't selling well now, it won't sell well after he retires like MJ's has.

I would be pretty surprised if he does, especially in the next 10 years.

I'm not sure if LeBron's apparels are not selling as well as Nike hoped, but one thing I know is he's making more money than any 23 year old sportsman did. But earning a billion dollar just by sports and endorsements sounds impossible. He has to start some new business with his friend Warren Buffett. Then he can become a billionaire.
...aaand poor LeBron making less money than Kobe!
nice blog btw.

He never will make enough to be a billionaire, unless he does some very smart investing with his money.

He will never be a billionaire. The only billionaire athlete I can think of is Oscar De La Hoya.
MJ, David Beckham, A-Rod might be but I doubt it.

Oscar De La Hoya:
Has been fighting in 20 million dollar bouts for the last eleven years.
Released his own cd.
He owns a 25% share in the Houston Dynamo
He has his own autobiography
He owns Golden Boy Promotions who gets a share of the winnings from:
Manny Pacquiao
Marco Antonio Barrera
Ricky Hatton
Bernard Hopkins
Shane Mosley
Juan Diaz
Winky Wright
Golden Boy Promotions also gets paid money for hosting their fights in different arenas. (Example: MGM grand pays money to have the fight in their arena).
Golden Boy Promotions also owns:
The Ring Magazine, KO Magazine, World Boxing Magazine and Pro Wrestling Illustrated from Kappa Publishing Group.
His wife Millie Corretjer has two cds that sold over 500,000 copies each.
He is also a big time investor in the stock market...
So yes, he is a billionaire.

Michael Schumacher is a Billionaire
In 2005 Eurobusiness magazine identified Schumacher as the world's first billionaire athlete. His 2004 salary was reported to be around US$80 million.[110] Forbes magazine ranked him 17th in their "The World's Most Powerful Celebrities" list.[111] A significant share of his income came from advertising. For example, Deutsche Vermögensberatung paid him $8 million over three years from 1999 for wearing a 10 by 8 centimetre advertisement on his post-race cap.[112] The deal was extended until 2010.[113] He donated $10 million for aid after the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.[114] His donation surpassed that of any other sports person, most sports leagues, many worldwide corporations and even some countries.[115]

Sorry, but I do not classify Michael Schumaker as being an athlete. He drives cars. Thats like saying Bill Gates is a billionaire athlete because he plays bridge.
Second of all, this is the problem with LeBronze. He is concerned with his bank account and turning into a global icon — not winning a championship.
Hate to go back to Jordan all the time, but Kobe and LeBron fail because they don't carry their teams to championships.

I remember reading an article one time about Scottie Pippen when he played for the Blazers. His owner was billionaire Paul Allen. Remember reading a quote from Pippen how he hoped to be a billionaire eventually as well. Rumor has it that he's broke now.

Whether you want to believe it or not (and others too), there is athletism involved in racing. Drivers are constantly up against heat conditions and dehydration.
Also, drivers pit crews go through rigorous training to stay in top shape.
I pretty much agree with this blogger's opinon:
http://blogs.chron.com/downshift/archiv ... river.html
Motorsports is indeed a sport, because the drivers and their pit crews train just as hard as their Olympic counterparts. Many of the series are taking the task of driver conditioning very seriously and working to ensure that their drivers and crews are in tip top shape.
So think about this while you are thinking whether or not motorsports is a real sport and race car drivers are athletes -- You are lying in a cramped wooden crate traveling at speeds of more than 100 mph while holding a 25-pound dumbbell in each hand straight in front of you. You're dressed in a business suit, including your tie, trying to read your laptop as you get thrown from side to side. It's a 120 degrees. Your eyes are full of sweat and the constant vibrations impair your vision. You withstand 3.5g short term cornering force. After two hours, you've lost 7 pounds and you're physically and mentally exhausted. Now imagine being in that same wooden crate and going from 0 to 325 mph in under 5 seconds in a perfectly straight line and keeping those same arms with 25 lb dumbells on the steering wheel. This is what it's like to be a race driver.
Doing this requires you to be phyiscally as well as mentally fit.
Not trying to stray away from the OP's topic, but it drives me nuts when people say drivers aren't athletes.

Dont forget about him modeling career..
Modeling Fish Nets

But in all seriousness, he is NOT a billionaire..

Tiger Woods is on pace to accomplish what no other athlete has done, which is earn a $billion in their career. Yes he is currently the richest athlete in the world and worth more money than endorsement giant Michael Jordan. Tiger’s net worth exceeds $750million.
Oscar De La Hoya is around $650 million

Where do you get the idea that LeBron and Kobe are more concerned with their bank account than winning a championship. Will you guys ever stop talking nonsense? "Hate to go back to Jordan all the time" but Jordan didn't win anything before having a great team and coach either so stop with the cliches. Haters sound like Pravda.

His company... Golden Boy Promotions is up there in net worth. The guy made around 60 million in vs Mayweather, and that was just one fight. He has made a killing for stealing fighters from Arum/TopRank and company. He holds HBO in the palm of his hands. No other promoter actually gets set dates for PPV and WBC regardless of what fighters they have. The guy basically owns HBO sports and he owns the Ring Magazine/The Bible of Boxing.
