Why did Kobe leave ADIDAS?

Post#1 » by killermamba » Fri Jul 25, 2008 5:09 pm

I find his new design line with Nike a bit weak and very ugly to be honest. The latest Kobe III seem very awkward and extremely odd. Then again, adidas had a few ugly kobe designs too but I felt adidas fit him better and the adidas shoes were more comfortable (Esp the Crazy Kobe I). Any reviews or thoughts?

I'm glad he switched to Nike. Nike shoes fit my feet a lot better than Adidas shoes.

^True, adidas never fit me well either. Although nothing beats new balance and their selection of widths!

I liked Kobe's adidas commercials though. Especially the one where he's wearing all white, sitting between two corinthian columns, hand under chin, deep in contemplation like Rodin's "Thinker."

That one pissed off a lot of people, I loved it.

I've never tried New Balance. I used to be able to wear Reebok for basketball but even those are uncomfortable, now. They're fine for just street shoes, though. Adidas and And 1 never fit me well, while Nike's always been great.

True, I loved those commercials, too.

Yeah I think his Nike shoes have been pretty weak. When he came out with the Zoom Kobe 1 I thought they were sick. The Zoom Kobe 2 was also nice, but the Zoom Kobe 3 is just plain ugly :sour: . Kobe needs to create shoes that you can wear on or off the court and crack necks like MJ and the Air Jordans.

Big Game James put New Balance on the map in the 80's.

Eh Nike's are overpriced and ugly. Addidas are better shoes imo. I'm a low top guy though.

Kobe's original Addidas (The feet you wear) was the best shoe ever I swear. You couldn't sprain your anke in those if you tried.

If you have wide feet like I do, most shoes suck. Doesn't matter how well they're made, fit is everything.

Nikes take me a couple weeks to break them in. New Balances fit great right away. Too bad New Balances are butt ugly.

I've never worn Kobe's adidas shoes, but the 2k4's and 2k5's were solid. Kobe II's game me blisters but they were well made and looked nice. Never tried on his Kobe III's, but they look comfortable.

Nope, Kobe paid $8 million to get out of his contract with Adidas in 2002. After spending a year negotiating, he signed a new contract with Nike in June 2003.
