I got bored and decided to compile a short list.

There have been a lot of Orioles players that have been through the Jays' system at one point in time. Bob Bailor, Armando Benitez, Mike Bordick, Bruce Chen, Sean Douglass, John Parrish, Ken Huckaby, Josh Towers, BJ Ryan and Greg Zaun all came from the Orioles and have played for the Jays.

While the likes of Roberto Alomar, Tony Batista, Joe Carter, Albert Castillo, Howie Clark, Chris Gomez, Pat Hentgen, Ken Huckaby, Jimmy Key, Greg Myers, Guillermo Quiroz, and Mike Timlin have all played for the Jays then later went to play for the Orioles.

But since we're talking about baseball the likelihood of all these players playing for teams within the division is pretty high. But the number of former Orioles' is still pretty surprising. It also seems like they got the better end of the deal when it comes to players.

I'm just wondering why the assertion that it would be of high probability that players would play within the division?

I'm just going on the assumption that since most teams get to view players they play against within the division more than most other players outside their division that it's not that far of a stretch for them to pick up players from rival teams. Plus it's baseball and players move from team to team so much it's hard to track almost all of them, but that's probably why they pay scouts big money to well scout.
