^ Like I said, BOTH can be addressed with solid productive personnel via FA at veteran minimum. I can name atleast 4 PF's that would sign for vet minimum and be ready to play 82 games and avg like 6-4 in 15-20 minutes a game (thats solid IMO, for a young backup. maybe around 8-5 is plausablie too though). Guy's like Nick Fazekas, James Singleton, CJ Giles (some of these guys were solid in the SL and are ready to contribute on NBA level as backups in my eyes, especially GIles and Singleton). at the PG, I can see some interest in John Lucas III (a power packed small gaurd that can fool you with his small height and extreme power. He can probably post up guys like Baron Davis in this league, and he has excellent ability to drive to the basket and finish, gets to the line at will, but can get shot happy sometimes. Not a bad outside shooter.) So yeah, John Lucas III, Sam Cassel, Jason Williams, Marbury (I personally hate him, but basketball wise, he does make sense on paper.)

So to repeat myself for like the 3rd time:

PGS:
Jason Williams
John Lucas III
Stephon Marbary
Same Cassel
Earl Boykins
Derek Anderson
Chris Quinn
Carlos Arroyo

PFS:
Othella Harrington
Nick Fazekas
James Singleton
CJ Giles
James Augustine
Dermarr Johnson (SF/PF more than PF/C though)
and my least favourite option, ROBERT HORRY (he could make bball sense with solid post defense and spreading the floor from 3pt land)

Saw some Raps SL games and Giles looked really good. Anyone know if he can D up, or is he just mostly a super athletic wing guy, alley-oop receiver. If he can board some and play decent D, not a bad pickup.

That is not a very impressive list, if we are able to sign a PG. I would target a PF/C via trade rather than through free agency. Especially if it gives us the opportunity to move Barbs and Diaw.

First of all, we would NEVER sign Horry. Bet the farm on that one. Walkingart, I clearly see your point about the poor quality of available bigs, but I continue to feel that getting a backup PF/C on par with Barbs or Barbs and Diaw together is putting all our eggs in one basket. We don't want Shaq and Amare's big contracts coupled with another guy who is a PF/C (read: Diaw is not limited to 4 and 5), when our most pressing need is backup PG and, especially if Barbs is unloaded, backup SG. We don't need to add much to the $30 million-ish we are paying our bigs, we need a shooter to replace Barbs and we badly need a Nash backup if we're inheriting 7 mil, or combined, 16 mil worth of contracts. Besides, any major addition at the 4/5 jeopardizes Lopez's playing time, which I hate.
