Great pickup by Sund and it allows us to sign more players with the MLE. Now we must get Smoove re-signed by the beginning of next week.

Yep, he'll be a solid bench player, but only time will tell if he can step into the role that Childress just left in Atlanta's roster. It's important that the rest of the bench steps up to make up for Childress' excellent play off the bench last year. I have a feeling they will though. As long as Claxton stays healthy, he, combined with Acie Law and Maurice Evans, will help out with the rotation.

It's important that we sign a big like Kwame Brown and resign Josh Smith now.

good signing...I have a source that told me yesterday the Hawks offer was the reason he backed off of GSW...it was believed to be for closer to $10m though...7.5 will work...not a bad deal at all for you guys...enjoy Mo, I already miss him...

Solid signing, and it looks like this is a decent contract as well.

Or maybe it was because Golden State had resign Azubuike to a three-year nine million dollar contract?

it's possible, but I believe Mo backing out came first which placed the pressing need on the Warriors to match...just the way I heard it...could be totally off point...

This is an example of why Chill leaving could be a blessing in disguise. We have money to spend on 2 or 3 pieces off the bench now instead of committing that absurd amount of cash to a 6th man. We can get much deeper and without burning up too much cap space (since we can renounce Chill if we need to).

I doubt Maurice does the little things that Josh did for us, but he's going to provide us with some needed production off our bench, and now he can say he has a home for three years instead of bouncing around like he's done throughout his NBA career.

I agree, it'll be hard to step into the role and do as well as Chillz has the years that he's played here in Atlanta. Chillz was basically our only consistent player coming off the bench. However, this year, I expect Claxton (if healthy), Law, and the rest of our bench players to step up. I'm excited... hopefully we don't screw up and let Smith go. We need to resign him.

I hope Smith sees this signing and realizes that this team does intend to make moves to improve this summer and next. Let's lock him up to 6/66 like Monta and keep building the bench.

I think Mo is at least as good a fit for OUR team as Childress. Mo is a much bigger threat from 3pt range, and can run the floor just as well. He's very athletic, basically a pogo stick. He's also a better defender than Childress. However, he won't get as many rebounds or give us as many 2nd chance opportunities as Chill did.

I also like that Maurice hit 80 three pointers this past year and Josh only averaged around 22 for us during his career. Maurice needs to aim at making 100 three pointers for us. I see no reason why he can't do that if he gets the 30 minutes per/game Josh received.

I highly doubt he will get the amount of minutes Josh Childress received last year. Last year, we were running basically an eight-man rotation. Woodson said that he will get the bench more involved now that his job isn't on the line for stakes. I actually believe him. And because I have a feeling we will be signing a big (HOPEFULLY Kwame Brown), then those bench minutes that we gave to Childress will mostly even out through Maurice Evans, [HOPEFULLY] Kwame Brown, Acie Law/Speedy Claxton, and Pachulia. Not to mention we will have some decent bench warmers in Jackson/Richardson and Jones. It's crucial we resign Smith.

Now we need to focus on getting Smoove re-signed and siging Kwame and Randolph Morris. If we can do this we should have a pretty good team next year with the continued improvement of the young guys.

Good deal. Now orlando's former starter is our bench player.

^^^ Yes sir. Go get Kwame and we have cured two of our biggest problems: a backup big with size and an active perimeter defender to spell JJ.

If J-Rich and Rio continue to develop we COULD have a decent bench this year. Is it training camp yet?

I hope not on the last part. One of the few positives I could think of,of Childress being gone is no longer having a 6th starter and spreading the minutes out more.We shouldn't play him 30 mintes a game, some of those minutes needs to go to Acie. It's also good that Woody can't play Childress at the point anymore (since it NEVER worked period at all,NEVER................EVER lol)

now resign Smoove and get a big

For the time being his minutes should depend on who else we sign. I don't like our bench overall and don't trust many of them to be productive. If our players aren't going to prove it during practice they definitely don't deserve to have actual game time. Acie Law will have to worry more about a healthy Speedy and not Evans.

Like many of you, I hope we focus our attention on Kwame Brown, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
