Wow - didn't think this would happen (all of our wanted guys resigning)... Just a question - we have accuumulated a lot of young, talented guys - might it be too many (especially at the 2-3)... Is the grand scheme to showcase and trade some assets for a another high (potential) 1st rounder???... Ricky Rubio sounds (or sounded) intruiging (2 years ago - with his ridiculous showings in the Euro Junior Championships)... Is he still on the radar...

I'm really happy about this offseason.

We got almost everything I wanted

Young, athletic bench(Carney,Gomes,Telfair,Smith, McCants) -- Check
Starting caliber player(Miller) -- Check
Defensive backup center(Collins) -- Check
Backup PG(Telfair) - Check

New Coach -- ....

If everyone can stay Healthy(Foye, McCants, Love), I seriously think we can be a surprise team in the West.

We have a rising star in Jefferson, we have a top 5 three-point shooter in the league in Miller, and not to mention that Foye and McCants shot >40% from three. Hopefully our new assistant coach can put in a defensive scheme in our style of play and we can win games!

I think that is pretty much the angle. To (potentially) help move a contract as the next deadline approaches, we stand pretty good with the necessary depth to make a move.

I assume McCants could possibly be our biggest trade asset by mid-season. Since we are a rebuilding team, Brewer will remian if he shows any offensive progress whatsoever. I like Brewer, so that's fine in my book if it proves to be true. Carney is pretty much a wild card more ways than one.

With Gomes re-signing, we got all 3 players for roughly $7.5-8 million per year on average (give or take). That's terrific value for us as we emilinate most depth concerns. Smith is a nice offensive role player, Telfair is a nice backup who still has potential to become a starting PG, and Gomes is potentially a starter already. Nice work keeping young our players and now have some experience in our system. We had the chance to walk away from all of them, but they apparently have a fit.

Foye/Telfair
Miller/McCants
Gomes/Brew/Carney
Jefferson/Cookie/Cardinal
Love/Collins

DNP-Mark Madsen
DNP-Calvin Booth (if not buy-out)

Im glad we got all the pups back. I was really hoping we brought back Gomes so we got that accomplished. This is an extremely exciting season and I cant wait to see these guys all on the floor.

Cheers RC!!! Yeah i have been Yokosuka before (to check out the old Russo-Japanese War Battleship (Mikasa - the only Pre-1900 all steel battleship still in existance out of interest)) - plenty of Americans there (i'm an Aussie FWIW) there... I can remember sweating bullets when i took photos of the entrance to the Naval Base (two armed guards at the gate were sussing me out)... I didn't get a beatdown/violation in gitmo so all things considered it was okay...

I think T-Wolves fans must be among the happiest fans of any team this season - seriously... we cut the deadwood from our roster... Got a major peice who will space the floor, provide scoring, leadership, and win close games... Picked up a guy who will (eventually) tag team with Jeff and, with his passing create more opportunities for other guys (namely Brewer/Carney methinks - both guys will be productive in the new setup (i hope))... Telfair is on the cusp of being starter material (if he learns to finish he's the second coming of Rod Strickland)... along with the bright spots from last year Jeff, Foye, 'Shad, Cookie, and loads of draft picks...

I hate to turn over rocks but - if only we had drafted Aaron Gray/Gasol Jr. - ah well - just nit picking (we probably couldn't have kept them anyway)...

Thrilled to have Gomes back. One of my favorite players.

I do think this sets us up for a trade of one of our wings though.

Nice resigning for you guys. You guys have a lot of talent. But a cluster **** of a roster. That was the Celtics problem the last few years. We had too many young player on the roster.

You need to make a big trade to consolidate your roster. Maybe look into S + T for Okafor. He has had injuries but He is still pretty young. He would fit in pretty nicely with Big Al. He is the defensive big you guys need. You could prob get him without having to give up Love. That could be a great front court for the next 5-10 years.

So wait, we got rid of Walker, Snyder, Green, Buckner, and Jaric, and got back Love and Miller and lost nobody else? Good off season.

Foye/Telfair
Brewer/McCants
Miller/Gomes
Love/Smith
Jefferson/Collins

I think that is our rotation

It sounds spectacular when you don't mention Mayo outgoing.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere else on this board but storytellers has the contract at $9 mil over 3 seasons breaking down into $3 mil each season with no options.

http://www.storytellerscontracts.info/resources/08-09salaries.htm

That's great value for Gomes imo, but I'm sure the 3rd year will be heavily debated...

It says "Signed 7/25/08 for an assumed $9,000,000 for 3 years". So it sounds like more of a guess. I'm guessing we'll hear for sure tomorrow.
