Ace Performance from Joba!!

Post#1 » by TKF » Sat Jul 26, 2008 2:15 am

This is what I guess we have been expecting.. A big game on the road vs boston and their ace Beckett who pitched well, and we had our future ace on the mound and he outdueled beckett and shutout the sox in fenway for 7 innings with 9 k's... Mo came in to shut the door as usual... All I ahve to say is great job joba, great job!!

He was just unreal today.

Where are all those clowns who wanted him in the bullpen!?

These are the types of performances we used to get from our pitchers during the dynasty years..

the yankess brass just have been real smart this year.... but when you look at what joba did, he came in there on a night when ortiz came back and just turned the sox bats into saw dust... he was nasty and filthy.... and just overpowering. I saw one of his pitches hit 100 on the gun and then that slider was just nasty... This is why you start him, this sets the tone now for the other pitchers this weekend, he sort of took the pressure off...

Heck of a performance by Joba! Just wish Mo didn't have to come in so early in the 8th.

For those who say we didn't need a bat? I'm not that comfortable scoring one run a game. I know it was against Beckett, but I didn't feel he was dominant, at least not early.

Absolute outstanding outing by Joba. He's a big game pitcher. This kid is special.

exactly, and as I said, sometimes you need that pitcher, your ace to be almost perfect. How many times do our pitchers pitch a great game and give up 2 runs and lose.. sometime you need that ace to match zero for zero. Joba was that guy tonight..... Imagine if we had him doing that in the playoffs last year, a game like tonight along with petitte's great game last year vs the indians and we might have advanced..
