Next Step (Signing) ?

Post#1 » by Don_eMOCION#31 » Fri Jul 25, 2008 10:43 am

I recently watched some summer league tapes and i really like what i've seen from dhanthay jones BUT isn't a post presence what we need most right now?

We got a hustler in chris andersen but am i the only one who likes elton brown?? he rocked in only 24mpg and he looked so great during the summer league games that i found myself thinking 'damn, who's this player? why isn't he already in the nba!?'

really, he looked like a young elton brand. i'm excited and hope that ELTON BROWN is our next step! what about you guys?

I thought he would have been a good signing for us. He did something in the summer league that no Nugget really did for us last season by hitting the offensive boards. He is a bit over weight and a bit short for his position, so maybe that is what is making the FO shy away from him. IDK.

I'd give Elton Brown an edge over Elson. Elson is another lazy player who is only motivated maybe 5 minutes for every 5 games. Brown is a harder worker, he's relentless on rebounds and will never fail to box out people. He's undersized yes but we need his effort, and true big man's game inside. Elson's only effective with his perimeter shots... he'll be non-existent in the paint.

Although I havent seen any summer league games yet this year, its not the first time someone has dominated the glass in summer league. a guy named Arthur Johnson was a regular on summer leagues for the Nuggets and tore up the glass and was getting rediculous numbers, the nuggets signed him for a ten day contract a few years ago and never got out of the practice squad. The guy was a lot like Elton but just because you can tear up a summer league doesnt mean its going to translate... I guarentee you if we would have signed Elton he would see Steven Hunter minutes.

Right now it's important for this team to realize that Iverson needs to be the starting point guard.
If i'm running this team my unit as of right now looks like this.
Iverson/Atkins
Smith/Jones
Melo/Kleiza
Kmart/Birdman
Nene
We need depth at the big positions.

^ don't forget hunter.

invisible last season (typical nuggets knee surgery + george karl) but he's a serviceable big man for 10-15mpg, imho.

It's different to observe stats from games... I actually did watch 4 games. He's good... none of his performance deserved an asterisk just because it's SL. Guy really fought for every rebound and two seven footers (Marreese Speights and Jason Smith) boxed him out every play, didn't give him an inch, and he tipped the ball from behind or managed to just get his hands on the ball, and he grabbed 15+ boards in that game.

He also has a true inside game with the bangs and soft touches around the rim, he's also smart and effective at positioning himself for an offensive rebound and easy feed.
