Here is a list of the 50 highest-earning athletes in the U.S.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/specials/fortunate50/2008/index.html

According to Sports Illustrated, LeBron earned $40,455,000 last year.

I don't know how much he's made up to this point, or what his net worth is. But if he were to start from scratch, and he made $40,455,000 every year, it would take him almost 25 years to become a billionaire.

So LeBron's odds of becoming a billionaire are dependent upon his endorsement money staying at it's current level and increasing after his retirement to make up for the loss of his playing salary.

$12,455,000 of LeBron's $40,455,000 was made from his NBA salary. LBJ's NBA salary will continue to increase but it will tap out at about $25 million per season.

Unless, he heads to Europe...

Do you think Lebron takes his money, puts it in a bag and buries it in his backyard? :D

I'm thinking he might invest some of it.

Lol. Just because he has millions to invest, doesn't guarantee a return on those investments. So those things are hard to predict. Be my guest. How much will LBJ earn off of investments? What rate of return will he receive in money market accounts, cd's, etc.?

MJ, David Beckham, A-Rod might be but I doubt it.

LOLLLL There is no Athlete thats a Billionaire , the highest paid athlete is Tiger woods, but Oscar is definatly not a Billionare.

Oscar De La Hoya:
Has been fighting in 20 million dollar bouts for the last eleven years.
Released his own cd.
He owns a 25% share in the Houston Dynamo
He has his own autobiography
He owns Golden Boy Promotions who gets a share of the winnings from:
Manny Pacquiao
Marco Antonio Barrera
Ricky Hatton
Bernard Hopkins
Shane Mosley
Juan Diaz
Winky Wright
Golden Boy Promotions also gets paid money for hosting their fights in different arenas. (Example: MGM grand pays money to have the fight in their arena).
Golden Boy Promotions also owns:
The Ring Magazine, KO Magazine, World Boxing Magazine and Pro Wrestling Illustrated from Kappa Publishing Group.
His wife Millie Corretjer has two cds that sold over 500,000 copies each.
He is also a big time investor in the stock market...

So yes, he is a billionaire.

  Are you serious?
