Ben Gordon or Deng
Any chance we can trade boris or barbs for Gordon or Deng? I know it doesn't solve our PG issues, but at least they can create their own shots...(Gordon is also a 41% 3-pt shooter)
Both are looking to get out of Chicago, is it possible to do S&T (preferablly for Diaw)?

Re: Ben Gordon or Deng
Haha, I was looking through the CHI board last night and they are getting so pissed about all the BG and Deng suggestions.
We definitely don't send Barbs there at all because then they either have 2 Ben Gordons or replace Ben Gordon with Ben Gordon. And Diaw by himself, or even with Tuck, DJ and a pick, will not net us Deng or BG. So I don't see anything working with them.

Fair enough...also taking into account that the Bulls want to pay Deng LESS than last year, I'm not sure they'd want Diaw's contract.
If they're moving Gordon elsewhere, perhaps a Barbs + Tucker for Deng deal might work
Then sign Livingston and get Dragic over here (hopefully)...just thinking outloud

True, I would just think if they moved Gordon they wouldn't be looking to replace him directly or indirectly with Barbosa since they are a pretty similar blueprint. Its a good thought though...

Re: Ben Gordon or Deng
Yeah, I dont see us getting either of these guys. We just signed Barnes, we still have Hill, and if we do a trade barbs or Diaw, we are not going to bring back Gordon when he does not solve our problem with barbs. Nice players, but I don't see us trading for any of these guys.
I think we might make a move, especially for a SG now to back up Bell, but honestly, I think they can not find a good enough deal to get rid of barbs or diaw. Plus, these guys are still solid players that we can use. If motivated, and play to their potential and know their ROLE, they can be solid players for us.
Oh, and love the Livingston plug, still on the bandwagon until he signs elsewhere.

Re: Ben Gordon or Deng
I agree with Miklo. If they don't want Gordon, there's no way they want Barbosa. Deng can be had for the right price, meaning Diaw can't be involved. There's no way we land them without a third team. I can see something like Diaw going to Toronto, Bargnani + Graham to CHI, and Deng to us. Dobut we need Deng at all though. Barnes is a solid pickup, and with 2 veterans eating up minutes at SF, we dont need another SF that would ask for minutes. We could use a 3rd string G/F that can play both wing positions, a PG or SOLID combo gaurd to backup Nash, and a half-decent PF that can bring energy off the bench to backup STAT.

With all of you suggesting the Bulls have no interest in Barbs, keep in mind a few things.
1. Gordon has a much bigger ego than Barbs and can become a liability because of it.
2. Gordon wants to get paid. The Bulls may like BG, just not at $8 to $9 M/YR. Barbs is signed on at far less.
Those are the two reasons I can come up with for why the Bulls would swap him for Barbs, and those are the two reasons the Suns' would never entertain the deal.

yea..im not as pissed of as I am disappointed that a deal hasn't been reached and deng is now giving out ultimatums that aren't really ultimatums. it's a weird situation. I know one thing. If paxson trades Ben gordon for boris diaw i may have to throw myself in front of a train to get it over with before witnessing the train wreck that would be the bulls season without BG.

1) They are NOT looking to leave Chicago. They just want to be paid big & will leave only if they cant get it in Chicago.
2) sign & trade is very hard. Bulls cannot trade them unless another team agrees to terms with them. So if the Suns are willing to pay Deng the $75 million that he reportedly wants or Gordon the money that he wants (reported at $70 million), the Bulls can try to work out a trade. However, both players would be BYC players making a trade very hard to salary-match.
3) If Deng & Gordon lower their demands to around $60 million, they will be signed by Bulls

Deng was not expected to be available at 7. He was a projected top 3 pick that year. However, Bulls took Gordon at # 3 knowing that Clippers would take him since they were looking for a PG. Clippers took a PG - Livingston.
Washington had given Deng a committment - but they then traded the pick to Dallas for Jamieson. Dallas also needed a PG so they took Harris. That allowed Deng to fall to Atlanta at 6.
Bulls were prepared to draft Iguodala, but when Atlanta took Childress, the Bulls quickly changed plans and drafted Deng.

To follow up what Tommy Udo said, it was because the suns expected Iguodala to be gone by their pick that they traded it to the Bulls. Had they kept their pick, we would have drafted Iggy. We never had the rights to Deng, the pick was traded long before the selection was made.

Right - it was revealed a few days before the draft but since it involved a second round pick going to Suns, the NBA wouldn't allow it to be officially announced until after Chicago made that 2nd round pick for Phoenix. So Deng had to wear the Phoenix hat, etc at the draft & while shaking Stern's hand although Deng knew Chicago had the pick & where he was going.
I also remembering reading that Boston made a similar offer of trading the following year's pick & $3 million for the #7. However, Phoenix decided to trade with Chicago because they were horrible & expected to be worse than Boston.
In fact the Bulls did start out 0-9 until Skiles decided to start Duhon & move Hinrich to SG. The Bulls went on to win 47 games & the traded draft pick became the 21st (later used on nate robinson & traded to NY as part of QRich trade).
Good planning by Phoenix but it didnt work out because the Bulls suddenly got good

you all are wrong the suns did have the rights to deng.
06/24/04: Phoenix: Drafted Luol Deng #7. Traded the rights to Luol Deng #7 to the Bulls for the rights to Jackson Vroman #31, a future 1st round pick and $3 million

but the deal was made with Chicago a few days before the draft. Phoenix drafted the player that Chicago told them to, then conveyed the rights to that person after Vroman was selected. Phoenix told Chicago to select Vroman. the NBA prefers it that way.
Sure Phoenix had rights to Deng for a very short period of time but the deal was already done.
Do you think Phoenix and Chicago could have worked out a trade for Deng within a half hour while the draft was going on? Gimme a break!
-----------------
When Golden State traded Jason Richardson to Charlotte, it was done before the draft. GS told Charlotte who to pick but the deal wasnt announced until after a second rounder was selected.
It's not like Charlotte drafted Wright & within minutes managed to arrange a deal with Golden State to acquire Richardson....
