NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that Biedrins was en route to Oakland on Sunday night after agreeing to a new six-year contract with the Warriors worth nearly $63 million. The contract, sources said, will likely be signed Monday and include a player option for Biedrins to return to the free-agent market in the summer of 2013 after completing five seasons.

Really like the signing for the Warriors. Don Nelson needs to seriously play Wright this year as he could potentially add another dimension to the Warriors front court. Hate the Maggette signing but a core starting with Ellis and Biedrins is definitely a good start.

5) Andris Biedrins/Ronny Turiaf/
4) Al Harrington/Brandan Wright/Richard Hendrix
3) Stephen Jackson/Anthony Randolph/
2) Corey Maggette/Kelenna Azuibuke/Marco Bellineli
1) Monta Ellis/Marcus Williams/

That's not a bad lineup. They have some young guys and tough veterans. Definitely a sleeper for making some noise.

He got Nene/Chandler/Dalambert money, and he's at around their level, with the price tag being so clear, I don't anyone has basis to claim overpayment.

The money seems about right. The Biedrins, Ellis, and Azubuike signings were all solid, and the Turiaf signing was OK as well, it's really only the Maggette signing that sticks out as a bad contract for GS.

Yeah but SRV, 2 of those 3 guys are grossly overpaid and if Nelson is only around for one more year, I really dunno if this is a solid signing for the Warriors. He has a lot of talent, but I dunno if he is really worth all that much, but thats what you gotta pay these kind of guys to keep them around....

Exactly. He wasn't going to get less than what they got after their rookie contracts. I'm sure his Agent used them as examples of recent big men who have gotten paid after their rookie contracts and were around Biedrins' age group when negotiating his contract. He was drafted at a pretty young age too (18 years old) so it definitely warrants him getting more, especially considering the fact that he was more productive than them also and showed more.

And the fact that Nelson is his head coach for only one more season shouldn't really play a factor at all. Biedrins is the type of player that could excel in a half court offense as well.

Great move for the Warriors & a fair price. If GS had to lose anyone this off-season, Davis was the one to lose so that they could build a young, competitive club. Just think, it wasn't that long ago that their payroll was cluttered with Dunleavy, Murphy, Foyle, Richardson, & Davis. These signings & the drafting of Anthony Randolph have them well situated for the future.

Good deal for both sides. AB's game will only improve and maybe he can develop a better offensive game.

Seems like the going rate for big men who have some skill and can put up 10-13/10 type numbers (Kaman, Bogut, Nene, Dalembert). Given that market it's not a bad deal, and Biedrins has some promise to develop further.

Biedrins is at most a $6-7 a year player. They really over paid. I don't think he is that great of a player. Above average just barely. He is a decent defender and finishes well near the rim, but has nearly zero offensive moves. The Warriors have no low post presence outside of Harrington, but they just won't post up Harrington for some reason

I see why they did it, but I'm glad it wasn't my team doing it...that is SO much money.

They have a solid lineup but they are just a project team. If they had say David West instead of B. Wright right now and a solid PG off the bench then I would like this team a lot.

Hopefully for Warriors fans Wright and Randolph develop sooner than later.

I think it's a pretty fair deal. I was expecting around 10 mil/year for him and his actual deal is right there in that range.
