Yao Ming can become Free agent in 2010!!!wow

Lebron, Wade ,Bosh ,Joe Johnson,Amare, o yes Yao Ming,etc etc

I was just going over NBA contract in 2010 according to ESPN(fox news)

Yao Ming has a early termination option for 2010
with Tracy Mcgrady also being a free agent in 2010

I can see Yao Ming team up with JAmes,Kobe,WADE in any numbers of NBA city

Hopfully in Miami
but LA,NY,NJ,MIA,CLe,Hos

I would go on reccord anywhere that there is no way all those guys actually become Free Agents. How many Franchise Players / first options became Free Agents in the last 10 or so years ? Why do people think it will be different in 2010 ? I mean, there´s a reason why a guy like Rashard Lewis gets the money he got in Free Agency, it´s because real Franchise Players don´t enter Free Agency.

And if the Rockets don´t really royaly screw him over there is a less than 1% chance Yao Ming even thinks about opting out and/or not stay with the Rockets as long as they want him.

He's getting a max deal and there is zero chance Houston lets him leave. Houston's Chinatown would revolt.

Yup, out of all that FA crop Yao seems the least likely to ever bail out.

I'd give it like a 1% chance.

I could see Yao bailing. Especially if it was a package deal. Yao and Lebron in NY. That would be a marketers dream.

Yao is too loyal to leave. The Rockets would have to do something crazy to piss off either Yao or the Chinese to get Yao to leave.

No. It's that the new Collective Bargaining Agreement should be in place, and their agents expect the value of a max contract to be raised. So by not taking 5-year deals like Melo they didn't get locked into the long rate. Melo preferred the security of a long-term deal. There is nothing set in stone, it's pure speculative economics.

going to a bigger market wouldn't even matter to Yao he already has all the Chinese
Fans he can get. Plus Houston is already the 4th largest city in America and has a very robust Asian population only behind California.

I believe that New York has the highest chinese population in North America and Toronto is Second after that it would be San Francisco and the whole Bay Area.

LA's chinese population is peanuts compared to those three and Houston and Chicago are half of LA's after that, there isnt a city in the US with a significant Chinese population.

Given the fact that Golden State has invested in Andris Beidrins that would probably take them out of consideration. Los Angeles looks like they will invest in Bynum when it is time, so that eliminates them. Chicago will probably still be a mess in 2010 and personally i think Joakim Noah will pan out to be a decent center in the league.
That would leave us with New York, New Jersey, and Toronto.
Lebron is going to New Jersey. I think Wade will stay in Miami and Miami will end up getting someone next offseason or in 2010 to satisfy him.
With the Knicks, i think Amare will probably go out there. Nash will be nearing the end of his career, Shaq will be done. If Phoenix decides to re-build, they are also in a nice position as they could probably re-sign Nash for 6 mil a year. and grab a major player like Wade or Bosh.
Given the fact that the Raps seem to like international players because of the international makeup of the city of Toronto, i could definetly see them go after YAO as opposed to Wade, Joe Johnson etc.
