Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
Are you kidding me?
This is great news for the Nets. Krstic legitimatley wants to play in the NBA but he feels that he's not going to get anything near his value from teams that still have money this offseason, the way I see it is that the pressure is now on Krstic to go back overseas and prove to NBA suitors that he's really healthy.
If Krstic "explodes" (proves that he's close to or is the pre-injury Krstic) this season and then wants to come back to the NBA well he'll still be a RFA so the Nets will be able to match any offer he gets, if he flops overseas and doesn't seem to have healed then don't the Nets win again by not overpaying for a washed up player?

If you want to find a bright side of it.
He could just stay in europe and they wouldn't get any compensation for him that's why it's bad news for them.

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
Anybody know how much money Curly is going to get over there? I hear Europe is paying more than the NBA these days. I wish him well and hope he returns to the NBA someday. It just goes to show how much an injury can effect the future of a team. I was really suprised that he came back from the injury physically but not mentally. The reality of how bad we may be this season is starting to sink in.

Yeah but if he stays in europe, he can't actually "hurt" us down the road on another team in the NBA. I love him and all, but with me, it's out of sight out of mind. I'd rather have him get healthy and tear up Europe than us do a S&T and get torn up by him a few times a year.
Regardless, we still have his rights. Because he went overseas, don't we actually have his rights for 2 years? I could have sworn we did. If that is the case, ya never know what could happen. He may go wild there, we orchestrate a S&T for a certain member of royalty and we need a few roster spots to fill.
Again, look on the bright side.

The problem with Eorupe is Actually getting paid. They promise top dollar and accomodation then deliver very little. I just hope Boki and Curly have opt out clauses and every base covered cos they are gonna need it. Plenty of Aussies have tried there luck in Europe in hope of an NBA call up. but have come home bitter and twisted from thier experience.
Athlete; "hey whats up you told me i had 5 star accomodation as part of my contract. Instead I'm in this run down old house with no water or power and there is bullet holes in the walls. Come on man get me out of here.
Cheap Skate Russian Owner: " Very Sorry. We must have some how you say Communication breakdown. I give you 5 star accomodation. Just look up at hole in roof. In night time you can see 5 star. Sometime 7. You see I very generous man. Now get to training we have bread and water waiting for you. (said in corny russian accent)

This is not the same scenario for an NBA player.

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
Also if you read netsdaily the speculation is it's a one year deal. Meaning he's probably just gonna be there for one year, hopefully return to form then come back to the states. If he does, we'll still have his rights. We'll also have a little bit of room since Stro will be coming off the books. If we don't think he's in our long term plans anymore, we'll at least orchestrate a S&T, but I'd rather have him on our team personally if he returns to form.

anyone think we can pull off a sign and trade? we styill could use another 2 or a 3 and maybe some draft picks? if you think about nenad was a investment in the nets organziation we wasted time on that serbie...we cant just let him walk we need somethin in return

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
Eh again, we're not letting him walk for nothing. We have his rights and his deal allows him to return next season. I see nothing wrong with it. I just don't see us getting a S&T for him done tonight and get someone at the 2 or 3 that will contribute. We have a full roster and will need to buy out at least Ager if we got something in return. I'd honestly rather let him chill in Europe and resume talks next year when we have some cap space. I love Nenad but I want to see what Lopez/Boone/S-Will/Anderson/Yi all can do before we deal with Nenad. If a few flop next year, we bring him back 100% healthy. If some of them show signs of being a NBA stud, we work out a S&T that gives Krstic a bigger contract than he'd get this year and we'd in turn get a better player at a position we have a whole in or get a bigger expiring to give us extra cash in 2010.
I just see Krstic playing in Europe as a great move for both sides. All the pressure honestly is on Nenad because we own his rights. If he goes off, we can keep him or get better value. If he is so-so, he either stays in Europe and makes some more cash there while we develop our young kids or we do a s&t for about as much as we would have gotten this offseason which wasn't a whole lot any way. I see no problems with this move.

I have him on my fantasy team (keeper league).
I will be screwed!!!
Already lost Navarro...
Now Krstic...
And it's a deep league. 30 teams...

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
"Nenad Krstic has a two-year deal worth more than $5 million per year in place with a Russian team named Triumph and will sign there if the Nets don’t work out a sign-and-trade with another NBA club by midnight Monday. Krstic would prefer to remain in the NBA, and he would be able to return after a year should he go to Russia."
---
If Krstic really wanted to sign overseas AND stay overseas I think his agent would have gotten him more than a 2 year deal (with the second year being a player option, I think).
To be honest I just like the idea of Krstic playing overseas, it's kind of like the equivalent of sending a young guy to the NBDL only the Nets are basically sending a veteran player to Europe.
The Nets big man rotation is also crowded enough as it is, this will open up more time for the Nets to figure out what bigs should stay and what bigs should go.

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
^^^ Agreed. By next season Stro will be gone and most likely either Josh or Sean which would leave us with Yi/Brook/Either Josh or Sean/Anderson. Looking at that line up, we'll have a roster spot for Nenad, but he'd be a big man type that we really don't currently have. Unless Brook Lopez starts looking like a 7' version of Carlos Boozer or something (cause I honestly can see a slight resemblance) I think we'll figure out a way to sign Nenad long term if he's back to his old form.

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
This is perfect. They don't have to pay him a big contract or give him to another team for less than he is worth. He will most likely will improve his value for next year, give the Nets a chance to evaluate the younger front-court guys and then become a RFA next year again.

Agreed. Someone already stated the reason why I'm most pleased with this is because we retain his rights.
Of course then again, there's the off chance Vanderthorn finds a team to S&T by midnight.

Rubbish!!! 2 out of 3 players that come from Europe and are drafted to the NBA have contract disputes with there Euro team. I think Dominique had issues when he went to France. Euro teams have screwed players over for years and will continue to do so.
This is not the same scenario for an NBA player.

Re: Krstic signs with Dynamo Moscow
This is probably the best case scenario in all honesty.
This is like giving him a chance to prove that he can bounce back to pre- injury form, should he do that we can still retain his right's and either get something excellent in return or get old Nenad back.
Thorn wanted to close out some deal last night which would have given us something well under Nenad's worth.

Are you sure are different teams? I never heard Triumph Moscow before, it´s weird. Marca said Triumph, but you never know with marca.
i was looking for the triumph Moscow web, but nothing.
I dont think nenad come back to the NBA, neither Navarro or Nachbar, maybe Delfino.

Agent Marc Cornstein has confirmed to Chad Ford of ESPN.com that former Net Nenad Krstic has officially signed a two year contract with Triumph Moscow early Tuesday morning.
The deal is worth around $9 million per year in the United States once you factor in the exchange rate and the fact that European clubs pay all the players' taxes, according to Ford.
Krstic joins Josh Childress, Bostjan Nachbar, Juan Carlos Navarro, Jorge Garbajosa, Carlos Delfino and Primoz Brezec as NBA players who opted to play for more money overseas this year. Three of the six are Cornstein clients.
According to the report, Cornstein worked until midnight Eastern time trying to find an NBA team willing to pay Krstic at least a mid-level contract to keep him in the NBA, but after the deadline passed Kstic signed the European deal.
"I think you almost have NBA teams being overly cautious at this point," one Eastern Conference GM told Insider. "With so many teams so close to the luxury tax, teams are unwilling to take risks. Krstic was a risk. A small one, but a risk. We are certainly seeing the effects of the collective bargaining agreement this year. But these things are cyclical. If lots of team had cap room, Childress, Krstic and others would be playing in the NBA."
