Former Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman will wear a Nuggets jersey next season. (AP | Matt Slocum)In efforts to improve their defense, the Nuggets have traded for Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman, a source confirmed.

The Nuggets traded seldom-used guards Taurean Green and Bobby Jones, as well as a future second rounder, in exchange for the 6-foot-8 Balkman and $575,000.

Balkman, who turned 24 this month, averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, but is noted for his hustle and aggressive defensive play. Denver hopes Balkman can crack its rotation in the near future.

Why do we need another SF?

Not a bad trade, though trading 2 for 1 hurts our depth even more

i wouldnt really say it hurts our depth seeing is how neither of them will play with GK as coach. So if anything Balkman helps with depth. he'lls prob share backup mins with LK and maybe he can play some 4 too?

this guy was misused by the Knicks. When he is healthy I think he's a good player and will help you guys on defense and rebounding. Also he's a pretty darn good ballhandler off the rebound---you will like this player if he's healthy

good move denver front office...it's about time,I thought those guys were dead or something.

RB is a hell of a replacement for eddie...an ultimate hustler.he may be undersized for his position pf but he makes up for that in hustle.it's eazy to say that he was cut from the same cloth as eddie.

good move nuggets!
trust me...i know what the hell i'm talking about!

I've always wanted this guy on our team. Hell, I would have given up LK for him.

Now we just need to find a way to get him in the rotation.

Donnie Walsh is an idiot, you guys got a key role player in Balkman. He will become a fan favorite real quick. Congrads on getting a steal!!!

Well thats a second good move (Chris Andersen signing is first) our FO made so far, I like Balkman, he could see some playing time perhaps playing at 2 behind AI if Smith plays point.

good trade for the nugs. they didn't give up much for a hustle player. i don't think he makes up for losing najera. the guy shoots 43% from the ft line! that's even worse than reggie evans!
When Vinny Del Negro sends in his taxes, he sends blank forms and includes only a picture of himself, crouched and ready to attack. Vinny Del Negro has not had to pay taxes ever.

I am extremely upset by this and Donnie Walsh better do something else quickly because this made me lose a lot of patience.

Great move by the Nuggets.

Knick fan here, I think this was a fair trade.
Good luck with Balkman. He'll hustle like crazy, and be a fan favorite. Though you'll also learn to cringe when he bends down to line up his 'umper.

Well it looks like he wears a headband, an arm sleeve, and smokes weed, so he'll fit in perfectly. And i'm sure he'll be happy with the weed we have up here(at least Travis Henry sure did..).

But seriously, the reaction of Knicks fans should tell us how good this trade is. And most of them seem pretty pissed over on their board. He'll be a good Najera replacement.

"UMM" based on what? because it definately isnt production... Najera is very skilled offensively and can score in many different ways while Balkman relys on getting those garbage points. Najera can also hold his own defensively... Balkman is a better defender and you could argue hes a better rebounder because of his athletisism...but saying hes already an upgrade over one of our best bench players the past 3 years is ignorant.
