I would go on reccord anywhere that there is no way all those guys actually become Free Agents. How many Franchise Players / first options became Free Agents in the last 10 or so years ? Why do people think it will be different in 2010 ? I mean, there´s a reason why a guy like Rashard Lewis gets the money he got in Free Agency, it´s because real Franchise Players don´t enter Free Agency.

And if the Rockets don´t really royaly screw him over there is a less than 1% chance Yao Ming even thinks about opting out and/or not stay with the Rockets as long as they want him.

No. It's that the new Collective Bargaining Agreement should be in place, and their agents expect the value of a max contract to be raised. So by not taking 5-year deals like Melo they didn't get locked into the long rate. Melo preferred the security of a long-term deal. There is nothing set in stone, it's pure speculative economics.

No, there is a rule. After 7 years in the league, the maximum salary jumps from 25% of the cap to 30% of the cap. It jumps again after 10 years in the league to 35% of the cap. So not only expect LeBron, Wade, ect. to opt out for 2010, expect them to sign contracts that give them annother opt out in 2013. Doing anything else costs them a lot of money.

Except that the Rockets would be ridiculously under the cap in 2010, and STILL have their core. Even if McGrady doesn't re-sign, the Rockets can keep Yao and still throw max money at a Wade or Joe Johnson or Bosh, or even Lebron although that's a reach. And who knows if T-Mac will really bolt or choose to re-sign at a reduced salary. Then add in the young guys (Brooks, Greene, Dorsey, hopefully Landry) who will still be around.

And I highly doubt that Yao will leave a winning team that he's been loyal to all these years for freakin' Toronto, just because there's a few more Chinese people. I don't see every white player trying to ditch their teams for Utah.

I agree that Yao leaving Houston is a pipe dream though. He wont be going anywhere. But a new twin tower tandem in Bosh and Yao will run through any front court in the league, especially with Caldy playing point. That's championship material right there. Man, I'm dreaming again.

there's no way he's leaving. it seems that hou and yao have a very good relationship, and imo, hou has really done alot to accomodate him and has made him the face of their franchise, there's no way yao leaves unless the relationship goes sour, which i highly doubt.

also, tmac has said (though that doesn't mean much) that he'd like to retire/stay in houston, so maybe after his contract is up he'll take reduced pay and someone younger can come and play alongside yao and mac.

why would you be confident in this, has he done this with the Toronto Raptors yet ?
I've yet to see him steal anybody and players dont have admiration for owners like that...
If anybody steals a player from another team it will be Chris Bosh or Smitch's friendships with them that do the trick
