Can they do damage in the West?

Post#1 » by Gorilla Warfare » Mon Jul 28, 2008 11:09 pm

Clippers just acquired Ricky Davis today from the Heat, which now makes their roster look like this...

Diddy/Gordon/Dickau
Mobley/R. Davis
Ross/Fazekas/Williams
Thornton/TT/Kaman
Camby/Kaman/Jordan

What are your thoughts on their roster? Looks like if they mesh well they could do some damage.

Have they resigned Ross yet?

I wasn't aware that they had... only hoping PHX can get on the ball with his agent.

I think they have a nice lineup:

Baron
Mobley
Thornton
Camby
Kaman

With Davis/Gordon/Tim Thomas coming off the bench..I think that's playoff-caliber.

Sorry Get Nashty, Gordon is not a PG, hes a SG. And Fazekas is not a SF either. The guy is a stiff and 6-11.

Mobely has really fallen as of late, not like he used to be. I think R Davis is a nice signing, but not one that puts them into the playoffs. He has the talent to be very good, but is not consistent and is not mentally there during the season all the time.

I think it is a nice lineup. But I think the west is just too good and deep. I see at least 9 teams better then them.

Your depth chart is all messed up.

Davis/Knight/Dickau*
Mobley/Gordon/Ross*
Other Davis/Thornton
TT/Fazekas
Camby/Kaman/Jordan

That's strong enough to get into the playoffs.

There's NO WAY they don't start Camby and Kaman at the PF/C spots, no shot.

And Knight is gone to UTA for Hart...so your depth chart is messed up ;)

B.Davis/Hart
Gordon/Mobley
Thornton/R.Davis
Camby/TT
Kaman/Jordan

Ross, Dickau and Fazekas are not with the team as of now. Still, that team is solid, easily a .500 team in the West, can be playoff bound with a couple of solid moves though (depth / Camby for a REAL PF)

I don't see a problem with Camby at PF, he can step out and hit the 15-18 footer (ugly as his shot is), and Kaman can hit that shot too.

They can go with some youth/athleticism/shooters around those two as well

Has anyone heard whether the clippers are interested in resigning livingston and trying to keep him for the future. or are they going to let him go which would give phx a chance to sign him to a minimum as a backup to our backup????

^ Livingston isn't even cleared to do 5 on 5 till January, so he's a huge risk, but I want him here as much as anybody else. As for Tastic, I REALLY don't see that combo working out. Both are slower than turtles, and neither is a terrific athlete. I see a huge downside on defense more than offense, mainly because either one guarding the 4 won't cut it for 2 reasons.
1) They are too slow
2) Not versatile enough.

Opposition's power forwards would leave tire tracks on their bodies. Imagine Camby guarding STAT for a whole game, it would be impossible.
