What the two teams were thinking IMO:

Knicks: Like BluenOrange said, Balkman was outplayed by Chandler last year and we drafted Gallinari too so his minutes would have been limited. The team saves some money (Balkman's salary X2 since we're over the luxury tax limit) and we get a second rounder. Balkman has some value and it might have been a good idea to send him away along with one of our big contracts, but it isn't much of a big deal.

Denver: They were looking to replace Najera. Balkman is a hard-working player but he's a bit undersized to play the 4 full-time. But this is a good move for him because he will get more playing time.

Seriously though, I hope there's more to their supposed grand plan. If they don't replace Camby somehow, they're in big trouble next season.

Can he play the 4? With Melo & LK, he won't have much PT is he's strictly a 3.

While it doesn't help their 3PT shooting, Balkman definitely improves their perimeter defense, and will bring quality all-around defensive ability, combined with his hustle, good rebounding, finishing, and is not a bad creator for others, he has shown pretty consistent ability there from what I've seen.

If Balkman gets a 3PT shot eventually (just improving his shot in general)? He'll be one of the best role-players in the league and just the kind of player Denver has needed.

Bobby Jones once again goes from Denver, and from another oppurtunity. This guy really has game as an athletic role-playing SG, but he just hasn't gotten much of an oppurtunity to really show it and prove himself yet. He's shown it in the limited chances he's gotten, but has either had other more proven players in front of him, or has gotten shipped out. Doubt he'll stick with the Knicks, even though I think he should get a chance to show what he can do, regardless. I like him a lot, and he should make it somewhere in the NBA eventually.

I definitely dig the trade for Denver, whatever for the Knicks.

Good trade for the Nuggs.

I'm also sick of hearing people say the Nuggets will be in trouble if Camby isn't replaced. We have this guy called Nene who is better than Camby, it just sucks that he had the misfortune of getting cancer last season. It's not like it was another bball injury.

If he is healthy then the Nuggets will be stronger at the starting 5 spot than last year.

Camby's rebounding is more important than his help defense. Melo will pick up a few more boards, so will K and Nene will get 9-10 (again if he is healthy)

The Nuggets need one on one defenders and thats what Balkman is. I won't overrate him like some Knick fans but he is a good pickup for scraps.

Damn Balk went out and got the Knicks Caprice and we trade him... screw you Emperor Walsh LMAO

nah IDK about this trade... but down here in Augusta, GA, I've been getting a kick out of the fact we traded for a guy named Bobby Jones, and when I heard about the trade, I was riding down "Bobby Jones Expressway" named after the famous golfer of course.

I think this is Denvers way of reminding us '' hey stop picking on us about the Camby trade.. there's still ONE front office worse than ours" hahahahaha

With Nene healthy that made Camby expandable, Nene is a lot bigger/stronger and is a better on ball defender then Camby. He also doesn't float around the top of the Key the whole game on offense, he can score in the post unlike Camby.

Why the Knicks would make this move. It makes almost no sense.

If I were the Nuggets, I wouldn't bank on Nene staying healthy and I would go out and make a move for a decent big.
