Ok first off im new on the Suns board, I just wanted to know what do you guys think about the Suns future?
Suns will have alot of money in 2010 because Shaq will retire, Suns will get the $20million that Shaq is making.
Steve Nash is probably goin to in 2010.
Suns should have at least $33-$35million worth of cap room in 2010 because of Nash and Shaq's contract.
Also Raja Bell's contract expires in 2010, Im not sure if he is goin to retire or not.
If the Suns don't re-sign Amare Stoudemire in 2009, his contract will expire in 2010. But I fully expect Amare Stoudemire to sign a max contract extention with the Suns in the future.
Let me know what do you guys think about the Suns future? Also how long do you think it will take for the Suns to be contenders again after 2010?

Re: Phoenix Suns Future
First off, welcome to the board.
I think we have had many threads about this subject. I think anything can happen, but I honestly think they will go to the lottery and get a young player...........oh wait, we don't have our 2010 pick. Great move Kerr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, I think they will be ok if they can bring in a FA and keep Amare. They might be down a couple of years, but I hope they bounce back.

Not all that excited about our future core of players. Losing Nash, Hill, Shaq and probably Raja soon after is going to hurt. Not that a core of Diaw/Barbosa/Amare aren't bad, but we've basically seen most of what we're going to get out of Diaw and Barbosa. Probably won't have any good picks until 2011 either.

Umm, if you think the suns are anything close to a lottery team for the next two years, you are mistaken. Suns will win atleast 48 games in both seasons, and be in the playoffs in one if not both. I fully expect us to be a top-5 seed. Now, for the future. We will resign Amare in 2010 to a max contract, likely get Nash as a backup, get Dragic over here next year, sign Lopez longterm (3years?), and maybe acquire a 1st rounder in a trade for Barbsa/Diaw (this year, HOPEFULLY).

The underappreciated greats:

Some seek fame cause they need validation, some say hating is confused admiration - Nasty, nasty Nas

I dunno...I'm ok about this season, but unlike other years my expectations aren't high.
And to think we all reckon Shaq has slowed now...add another year on and that's 2009-2010

Re: Phoenix Suns Future
I love the Suns I think they can win like 55-60 games next season they are a great team. Suns will be a top 4 or 5 team in the west im sure about that. With the additions of Terry Porter as a new Suns head coach, Robin Lopez, and Matt Barnes it is clear that the Suns are goin to be better defensively next season.
Go Suns!!!
