Any Marvin Williams news?

Post#1 » by geeman » Tue Jul 29, 2008 12:15 am

Marvin’s has been extremely quiet this of season and with the circus surrounding the joshes
It would not surprise me if he shows up a camp in great shape and in line to have a break out
Season. Let all hope he make us forget this off season

He's probably just been jumping rope. Which appears to be his favorite warmup routine.

Why did you need bring up his name? Hawks fans are trying to forget they passed on Chris Paul and Deron Williams. ;)

He is probably just NOT working on his 3pt shooting and STILL driving wild and out of control to the basket! IF he can start hitting 3's and drive hard to the basket without losing the ball every time he could have a breakout season but with Woody coaching him i doubt it.

I haven't heard anything, but I would suppose that one of the following is closest to the truth:
A) Walking like a duck
B) Getting a head start on his suspension
C) Practicing to play PF in preparation of an ill-advised S&T deal
D) Adding to his shooting range an inch at a time.
E) All of the above

The Spongebob thing I can believe, but Fruit Loops? Marvin seems like a Captain Crunch guy to me.

this is my last season that i hope in a breakout season for Marvin. I havent given up yet. But im done with it next season. I still see potential but I know he will never be as valuable as CP3.

marv will prob never break out...hell just be that role player dude for the rest of his career...but i got faith in him
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Okay, what the hell do you guys want his "breakout" year to be. We have a team where everyone that was getting PT averaged double figures. No one is going to have monster scoring numbers.

Josh, Al, Joe, Bibby, Chill and Marvin were all in double figure scoring. That just simply doesn't occur and when it does, the guys aren't giong to have big scoring numbers.

Marvin Williams gets the most illogical hate around here.

The problem is that, if we wait to trade him until no one believes he has the potential to break out, then he has lost any trade value beyond that which an average SF holds.

Realistically, I would like Marvin to show 3 pt range on his sweet looking jumper. Lots of players develop 3 pt range during their pro careers because it is a valuable asset to have. Marvin needs to work on it. 10% shooting on limited attempts doesn't cut it. The other thing would be finishing at the basket. Marvin has gotten better at forcing the issue with a drive, but the result isn't often that pretty. Sometimes he gets the foul call, but sometimes he doesn't. He needs to work on getting those shots down with more consistency to remove the dependence on referee help.

See no hate. Just constructive criticism.

Sure the important thing that can help Marvin going to the next level is the 3pts shot. If he can't get one by the next two seasons (and he doesn't need to be a top 3pts shooter), it will seriously reduce his potential. It would be a huge impact on opponent defense if he was able to hit 3s.
I hope his summer work includes that.

i haven't heard any news on marvin but i didn't expect there to be any this year anyway. he's probably in washington, UNC, or just taking a trip around the world. he does need to work on that three ball. and he also needs to get better on defense. he got lit up a couple times last year.

I wouldn't even count that 10%, that one he made was a last second heave from half court......the 2nd game of the season. I only saw him really attempt a three once.It was from the corner later in the season.
