HOWEVER,
using the "FatsSpectre Okafor BYC Calculating Spreadsheet Spectacular" may and okafor doesnt work. you have to at least add nazr to the deal for it to work. that changes things.
Key in Players salaries in the "C" column
Trading team Chicago
Player Hinrich 10.25
Player Gooden 7.15
Player Thabo 1.9
Player
Total 19.3
Trading team Charlotte
Player Mek 13
Player May 2.6
Player nazr 6
Player
Total 21.6
Adjustment for BYC 15.1
Pass/Fail opposing team trade passes
Pass/Fail Bobcats trade passes

Re: Okafor Trade Thread - Post All Ideas Here
well, if we could get okur in a seperate deal, then losing nazr is ok. we'd get rid of his contract, which would be nice. gooden has 1 year left and okur has 2 years left, so we would clear some serious cap room by 2010.... but then again, what the hell are we gonna do with cap space anyway?

Re: Okafor Trade Thread - Post All Ideas Here
can we simply trade okafor straight up for a decent gm? maybe to portland, toronto, houston, san antonio or detroit? does that work under BYC rules?

I'm glad it got forwarded back to you...figured it would be but I never asked. Excel is a wonderful thing.
Of those 3 trades I seriously doubt Utah will deal Okur and Milsap as well as Harpring for Crash. Also personally I'd avoid Hinrich like the plague...he's WAY overpaid and there's nothing saying he can rebound off last year's dismal season. He might...but do we really want to take that chance with a 10 million dollar player with 4 more years on his deal?

Re: Okafor Trade Thread - Post All Ideas Here
Looking at Hinricks stats ,He is an assist first type point guard which LB is looking for to distribute the ball 8-12 assists per game as starting point. 10-15 points. Hinrick is smart, can lead, and 10mil is only 1-2 years. once DJ is ready after 1 year trade Hinrick if he is not performing. Losing Nazr is okeven thou hes a good backup 5. Okuris use to major minutes./Davidson/ Hollins can fill in or we can bring in FA 5 for MLE. The truth is Mek doesn't want to be here and would be happy in Chicago reunited with his Uconn buddy Ben. Either pull the trigger replacing him with an experienced proven point guard or with Luol Deng with fillins to make it work. Mek is not a superstar, but very valuable like Buck Williams was in his prime. Deng has superstar potential and wants out of Chicago. Both managements and both these player are unhappy. Maybe we trade both Wallace, Morrison and Felton for Deng, hinrick, and thabo then okafor/ May for Jazz players Okur and Milsap. Another player maybe the Knicks on a three way. They want Felton and We want Lee. Maybe we end up losing Mek Wallace and Felt and get Okur, Lee, Hinrick? Whatever happens, This current lineup is not a Larry Brown type team. Big and defense oriented is what he lives and dies by... Believe me something will happen before training camp starts. Stay Tuned Bob wants and needs to get Wins to sell tickets.

Funny, he's never averaged 8-12 assists per game; the most he's ever averaged is 6.8. His assists have also went down every year.
Hinrick is smart, can lead, and 10mil is only 1-2 years. once DJ is ready after 1 year trade Hinrick if he is not performing.
His contract is 37.5 over 4 assuming he hits (from what I understand) some relatively easy incentives. If he doesn't hit those incentives then he's overpaid more than I originally said.

Boy, that's a whole lot of assumptions on your part. You know Mek doesn't want to be here...how? You could be right, but I've seen nothing that proves it to be true. And Chicago with "his buddy Ben"? From what I've read Gordon is the most likely to take the QO. I'd also argue that there's plenty of doubt on whether Deng has "superstar potential".
Don't confuse negotiation with not wanting to be with their respective teams. No one has any cap and the organizations want the best deals possible. Sure it could cause some hard feelings and even force some into the QO or a S&T (Smith especially), but for the most part this is just business.
Maybe we trade both Wallace, Morrison and Felton for Deng, hinrick, and thabo then okafor/ May for Jazz players Okur and Milsap.
Then Chicago wouldn't do it. They're crazy high on Thabo and I doubt they consider Crash better than Deng (I do, but anyway). Hinrich as I've said all along is a deal breaker for me...no way do I want to be playing a combo guard (and that's what he is...NOT a "pure" PG) 10 million bucks per when we can get the same production out of a 6 per guy.
Another player maybe the Knicks on a three way. They want Felton and We want Lee.
Again, you're assuming. That was a "rumor" that management shot down. They've since given the full MLE to Duhon. Maybe they'd still do that swap...but I wouldn't. Lee has a lot of weaknesses and IMO is nothing more than a 6th man type, not to mention he's up for a contract next year (and he already used the line of not re-signing when it was rumored he was getting traded to Memphis).

Do you really think Okur/Lee/Hinrich is better defensively than Mek/Crash/Felts? Hinrich might be a little better than Felts defensively (probably debatable, esp. vs. PGs), but no way is Okur/Lee better than Mek/Crash.
Maybe something does happen...Bonnell has predicted the same thing. It wouldn't surprise me a bit though if we go into camp with exactly what we have, maybe adding a Foyle for part of the MLE.

Please don't add foyle ... he might be able to help educate the kids with the NBA community programs ... but he certainly would not be able to help the team

Re: Okafor Trade Thread - Post All Ideas Here

Your last posts /comparsions are pretty much accurate. I agree that we need a veteran point, but our glaring hole is at the 4 position. Mek is a 5 and always will be. Who plays 4? I thought we would be all over Lamar odem in LA for Wallace. It didn't happen why? I though Felton for Lee made sense from a defensive point if we lost Mek. If we keep mek we still need a scoring/rebounding 4 , I couldn't understand why we moved up and then draft Ajincia. Why not a 6'9" 245-260 forward "beast type" to go with Okafor like the guys from Memphis or Bama. If this Mek signing comes down as true
and Hes here then we gotta find a 4 before training camp. Also with big money going to Mek how do we resign Felton next year? Trade him now for the 4 from somebody. and Find a veteran point to go with DJ.
Ticket holders are expecting to see a Larry Brown type product on the floor. Defensely tuff guts guys who like to brawel in the paint, not the run and gun crowd. Bob if Mek stays either Wallace or felt needs to go. Ask Larry?

Lock this bad boy!
Next year with Mek's deal (assuming a flat rate) figuring we pick up all options we'll be approx. 4 million under the cap with 11 players. Felts' QO is 5.5 million and I doubt a new contract would pay him a lot more than that...I'd guess 7-8 average at the very most. Hopefully we can get him re-signed starting at around 6 and maxing out at around 9 over 5-6 years...assuming he remains in our long term plans o'course.
So far as a scoring 4 I am somewhat confused that we didn't make a run at Kristic, but it appears that management is pinning a lot of hopes on May and maybe some on Davidson as well (Davidson needs a nickname...too long to type). They may be figuring Ajinça in this season's plans as well...and I wish them luck with that.

Felton/Augustine
Gordon/2nd round pick weaver?/fa mle
Richardson/morrison/ dudley
Deng/Davidson/Ajinca/McMay
Okafor/Gray/Hollins
Can you visualize gordon and either dj or Felt playing either point or 2 ? What a backcourt combo!!
Then Richardson can play 3 or 2. Morrison can become 3 point specialist at2 or 3 off bench(replacing carroll) and dudley can brawel in the paint from 15 feet in. Its like a 3 headed Wallace coming at opponents with a fresh body every time.
Deng can play either 3 or 4 and with Jermero Davidson continuing to grow and if May can give us 15 minutes per game and Ajinca being the unknown we should be much better at the 4 postion
Okafor Gray and Hollins--give the bobcats 3 different types of centers at the 5
This team would go deep in playoffs next year and if you sign Gordon and Deng with incentives who knows. Score and defend from any position.. Mike you need to call Jerry now!

I would do it. The value we get in return is too good. Let's spend some more of Bob's money. I guess when we're paying our entire starting lineup like 12m/year, they can't call us cheap anymore.
