To Trade or Not to Trade Battier?

Post#1 » by RoxFan08 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 1:30 am

What do you guys think?

I'm rather of the opinion if we can go get a quality PG (such as the likes of Hinrich) who would be a significant upgrade over Alston, I would at least entertain the deal.

On the flip side of the coin, we don't want Artest to get away without resigning after already having traded Battier. That would be no good at all.

Battier isn't expensive, he's a great locker room presence, doesn't cause problems. But he has undeniable value around the league.

There are only so many creative ways to say "No," but I'm just going to go with "Naw."

If its possible to have him, Mac, Artest on the floor at the same time against Deron Williams or CP3 or Tony Parker then no...we shouldn't trade him.

If thats not possible then we should. Personally I don't think its possible so I think we should explore trading him.

If there's a deal that makes us better, then of course, he's more expendable, but I'd lean towards no at this point. Can you imagine Mac-Artest-Battier-Scola-Yao closing lineup, we'd have so many options since we have arguably 2 of the top three perimeter defenders in the league...

for the chance that ron artest may not resign with us next year, we should keep battier as an insurance policy

Trading Battier depends on the type of PG we get in return

I would trade Battier if his value is high enough around the league to bring someone good back. He'd be fine as a backup though.

am actually kind of intrigued with the idea of Battier coming to the Heat.

But we have Shawn marion and James Jones, but the fact Marion might get traded later on.

Would you guys be open to a swap for Haslem for Battier.

Absolutely not. You're about 2 years late. I'll much rather have Landry and Scola over Haslem.

No. Scola is preferable to Haslem as a starter, plus factor in that we still will likely resign Landry, and we have Chuck Hayes so that makes Haslem unnecessary. There is nothing that Haslem could bring to the table that would compare to what Battier brings.

The Artest deal only raises PattyCake's value. So why give him away for a semi-crappy whiteboy combo guard?

Keep Battier:

1. He's good.

2. Artest might pull a nutter...again.

the fact you have Artest. Kind of tells me, your front office will be willing to trade Battier.(even if the homers don't think so)
Scola is a good player.

But having a combo of Haslem and Scola will be great.

haslem my ass dude.! scola and haslem almost plays very similarly (the only difference is their color), and landry still has a chance to sign. so that gives a logjam at PF.
