will this be another Rudy Gay type trade?

Post#1 » by darbstar » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:24 am

Will trading away Donte Green be similar to trading Rudy Gay? Artest is better then battier and Gay was predicted to be better then Green, but could the same thing happen where Green explodes to be a star after being traded?

In saying that, gr8 deal for rockets, artest and battier will be gr8 together in defence

I think the difference is that when the Rudy Gay trade happened, half the city was like WTF!!!! Then when we look back on it, we realize that it was a bad move and a lot of us are left saying "I knew it!"

When this trade was announced, the whole city was like "SWEEEEEET!" So even if Donte Greene turns out to be amazing later on, no one can blame the front office for making the move as it was well worth the risk.

As long as we're in ridiculous arguments, I can't believe we drafted Olajuwon over Jordan.

Drop it already.
Morey 2020.

Q:How are they experts when they're always wrong?
A:Ask a stock market analyst or your financial advisor

I was thinking something similar: "Will this be another Richard Jefferson type trade?" I wasn't going to mention anything, though, until everyone's initial excitement wore off.

But since you brought it up, it is interesting to me that the Rockets in recent history have drafted quality wing players... for other teams.

(We've also NOT drafted quality wings that we should have, ie. Drexler and Rashard Lewis.)

When we traded for Griffin on draft night, most people were excited. Then reality hit. Griffin's attitude was horrible, he had way too many off the court issues, and to make matters worse Jefferson became one of the game's premier wing players.

Will Greene become a star while Artest ruins this team? Who knows... let's just revel in the excitement right now. There will be time later to pretend that we were against this trade and hated Morey from the very beginning.

We really wanted Roy. Getting Thabo would have been a bad decision.

But window is even smaller now compared to back then. Plus people knew Gay was going to be good, the question was just how good and when. Greene is a total crapshoot right now. He's nothing but a chucker atm. All he has going for him is athleticism. There's been many like him before and there will be many more like him in the future. That's the difference.

Artest is a 20 5 and 5 guy , and is the best one on one perimeter defnder in the NBA.
I doubt Greene will ever reach that and even if he does , it won't be for 2-3 more years and we need now.

I just hope we win big in the playoffs next year , if we do Les will open his walled Artest will egt paid and be happy and I can see us being true contenders for the next 3-4 years.
