All of these could pay Smith somewhere between 11-13 million on average.

You can also add the GS 2009 unprotected 1st to any of these.

Option 1 is the one I dislike the most if it includes the pick. While I love the young talent on the team, there's a pretty good chance that the team finishes with a top-ten pick which cannot be protected. If we have to include the pick, I like option 3 the best (substituting Belinelli for Jackson from the OP) with Jackson left to play SG and lead the team i think there is a pretty good chance that they make the playoffs.

I don't believe that GS can protect their 2009 1st because they traded the 2011 pick for Marcus Williams (that one is heavily protected). I thought it was interesting at the time that Mullin left himself the option of trading the 2009 pick.

Well, that's less appealing but I supposed it's still a semi-worthwhile gamble.
