Pierce under fire, again. It needs to stop...

Post#1 » by campybatman » Wed Jul 30, 2008 5:32 am

First, I want to just say that people really must get a life and leave Pierce the hell alone. If it isn't in the sports news that he'd "faked" an injury during the playoffs this season. It's this latest... Really, Pierce is being wrongly treated by the national media and fans. You would think Paul Pierce is the New England Patriots. It's like who isn't getting their good name dragged through the mud by the national media? Let's just put a big old target on all the Massachusetts professional sports teams and/or their players.

Paul Pierce says he's the best player in the world

By J.E. Skeets

Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via RedsArmy: "Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don't think Kobe is the best player. I'm the best player. There's a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don't cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself." Surprisingly, Spurs fans seem more upset by this than actual Lakers fans. (Update: OK, Lakers Nation is pretty upset, too.)

Well Pierce shouldn't have claimed he is the best when he isn't. He not even better than Lebron how could he be better than Kobe.

and the Patriots shouldn't have been spying for the past, i don't even know how many years they been doing it.

They drag their own name through the mud.

Well he is the Finals MVP. Kobe isn't. Neither is Lebron.

btw i love how as soon as Pierce hating is happening, some ballboy i've never seen immediately jumps in and piles on. LOL.

I'm sure it was a joke. People need to drink a cup of STFU and leave the guy alone.

The Celtics were the CLASS of the NBA in 2008. Pierce was the best player on that team. He's earned the right to talk.

All the doubters just add fuel to the fire, so bring it if you got it.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

Ballboy? What does that make you a Head Coach? What team do you work for? Oh ok...

By that logic, was Tony Parker the best player in the league last season?

They can hate on Paul as much as they want but they can`t take away his ring and his finals MVP trophy!

Besides in the final he was the best player on the floor! And he completely outplayed Kobe Bryant! He was the best when it was needed the most!

Pierce may not be a better player than Kobe, but his game has continued to progress past the point of being selfish and a 'just a scorer'...and Kobe can't say the same. Kobe has all the talent in the world and all the ego to with it. Someone needs to tell Kobe that picking up the tab at dinner doesn't make you a leader...oh wait, Pierce just did!

He is just having some fun. Can't the guy enjoy his championship/finals MVP offseason a little without other fans whining about what he said. For crying out loud. People who don't see Pierce daily, don't know his personality. From what I have noticed, he is a jokester. He likes to kid around. I have a answer for who is the best in the NBA right now: WHO CARES? Most superstars feel they are the best. That is the mentality they needed to get to where they are. Stop taking things so freaking literal. I bet those who get upset with what Pierce says are those who watch shows like Hannity and Colmes and actually beleive what they say is true. It is all entertainment, not life or death. Stop treating like it is. And for those from other boards who want to come in here and comment, fine, you are welcome, but be respectful and don't come in here just to say, "Pierce sucks" or "Kobe is better" blah, blah, blah. I don't care if you are a ball boy, head coach, mod, or President freaking Bush. Just add something with some substance. Thank you and have wonderful summer day.

It's just a joke, the following sentence about not being conceited makes that clear. Of course, the people who are posting this all over the internet fail to mention that it is a translation from what Pierce said in English into Spanish, and then back to English again from what's written in the Spanish newspaper. I don't think the Irony in what he said has much of a chance of surviving. For Real GM posters to understand it, the I'm the best player part should be in green.

Also I think it's pretty funny how before the Finals started, Laker fans were telling everyone how Their big 3 of Kobe, Gasol, and Odom was better than, KG, Pierce, and Allen. (Remember them coming over here posting things like Odom >> Allen ? :D ) BUT now that they have lost, Kobe was just 1 guy going up against 3 superstars.

Does it get any better than this?

LA sucks. Pierce just found another way to say it again. The narrative is awesome. They have the glitz and vanity. We have the team that is integrating the American dream with Ubuntu. Conceit or confidence.

I like our chances. Pierce is the best player, because his TEAM won.

The Celtics just won the championship. What do you expect opposing fans to do, talk about that? No, they have to find stuff to take their minds off the fact that the Boston Celtics are the 2008 NBA Champions, so they'll harp on meaningless stuff like that.

Brace yourself. We are having too many angry, jealous enemies out there just because we won the title. I can't believe this thread is posted. They will keep on finding more ways to piss you off.

First of all, the Pierce quote is most likely lost in translation from English to Spanish and back to English...second, what's he supposed to say, that he sucks and Kobe is better? Every great player thinks they're the best...you think Bird or Magic or Jordan thought the other guy was better? Sheesh! Get a life, **** media!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

I agree that most people on here are only pissed that Boston won, I love Garnett and Allen and am glad you guys won. However, if those were infact his words, that he is the best player, then he deserves some scrutiny. We are talking about a guy who never won anything until they brought in the most viscious PF in the game as well as the purest shooter in the game, not to mention Posey. He may have outplayed Kobe in the finals but he did not outplay Lebron. Lebron is on a terrible team, and i repeat the terrible part. However, he almost single handedly defeated you guys. I know in game 7 Pierce was battling him back and forth but he also knew he had KG to help, and even though Allen was stuggling he was still out there. Lebron is the best player in the NBA and the finals showed that great defense can stop Kobe's one man show, but not Lebrons. He is more physical than either Kobe or Pierce and if he had one semi star on that team, they would have won the championship. Congrats on the World Title, just a shame the captain on the worst team in the league 2 years ago had to run his mouth a little.

I was having a nice conversation with Tony Montana over on the Laker board about this when a Mod named Kno came in and told me to leave. We were not fighting nor were we being anything but civil.....now this Mod has the balls to come here and wants to have the conversation here on this board. I want to know how is this anything but unfair and I want to know what my Mods are going to do about it? My mods can go and check out the conversation and can go and talk with this Mod named Kno to see what I did to get this public outing. Other then Kno thinks there are 2 set's of rules....... 8-)

Didn't you just ask me to leave the Laker board just for talking about this subject???? 8-)

Nothing to see here, folks. Pierce is blowing off a little steam. I bet Kobe isn't even upset; probably laughing about this.

Lock this.
