Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
Dont know if this has been posted but reportedly we are interested in Chris Quinn. Is he a better option than Carlos. I doubt it, I would rather keep Carlos.

Maybe, maybe not.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
Quinn is receiving interest from teams as a third point guard prospect, with New Jersey and Orlando among the teams that have a need.
doesn't really say that the Magic are interested in him per say...just speculation...on a side note, what an intriguing coincidence...

Arroyo is def better but he wont stick around being third fiddle. Quinn would be a nice 3rd stringer.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
I would actually say that Quinn might be the better NBA player...Carlos is a veteran and a better passer, but in comparable minutes I'm willing to bet that Quinn is more productive, plus he's a real deal shooter...defensively, it might be a wash...

So do you mean all the Crittenton talk was just a mirage, false hope, empty promise. Im heart broken.

If AJ is still that good defensive PG he used to be, then Quinn would be an awesome addition to the roster. Great shooter, good court vision. I'd like it a lot!

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
Yep, the article doesn't actually say the Magic are interested, but I wouldn't mind it at all if they were.
Definitely seems like a good option for a 3rd stringer - maybe even 2nd stringer to be honest.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
Didnt Quinn show some promise [to be a decent backup] for the Heat, he was asked to do alot of minutes while Miami had tankuries, I mean injuries, didnt do horribly.

you mean to tell me that you honestly believe that 11 game stretch where Wade, Haslem, Marion and Davis were out, wasnt a fluke, but the result of a team trying to tank? sir, ow dare you...

Nah Quinn actually played more MPG than Carlos. In 22.4mpg he averaged 7.8pts 2.0rpg and 3.0apg. Hell he only gets 6.4 assists per48.
Quinn is slightly better percentage wise hitting the mid range jumper at a 51.9% compared to Carlos' 48.1 but both of those percentages are pretty high. Free throws are a wash, Quinn is better at the long ball. Quinn isnt nearly the passer or creator that Arroyo (or Nelson for that matter)is. Quinn attempts the same amount of shots that Arroyo does.
per48
Carlos 16.3pts 3.9rpg 8.3apg 0.99spg 85%ft 35%threes 13.2 fgatt per48
Quinn 16.6pts 3.8rpg 6.4apg 1.64spg 87%ft 40% threes 13.3 fgatt per48

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
well that seems pretty comparable to better (in some aspects) in comparable minutes...what about turnovers?
I think at this stage, for a cheap price, we would be pretty fortunate to land Quinn as a PG reserve, he's a well rounded player and seems to be confident and heady with the ball.

I agree. He would be a great option as a 3rd stringer for the Magic. He takes care of the ball very well.

Quinn 2.0 vs Arroyo 2.9
That stat looks good on paper but when you look at the rest its very concievable that his low turnovers is more due to the fact that he doesnt actually pass very much ala Ty Lue's low assists = low turnovers and high a/to ratio.
It shows that he at least is not careless with the few passes he does make. Defense between the two seem to be a wash.
Basically hes ok for a third stringer. If Jameer goes down though we are better off with starting A.J.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
Although I feel that article is really just putting two and two together rather than actually stating something, I wouldn't mind having Quinn as a third stringer, and I'd take him over Arroyo.
Hey, I remember him lighting us up last year!
I bet if this thread had been created after that game last year, it would be unanimous in favor of Quinn, not as a backup, but our starter and future Steve Nash.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
for a 3rd stringer I like the idea of Quinn, he's young and he's a solid PG for a few minutes...
I compared the two largest runs these guys had last season as starters;
Quinn had a run of 17 games at the end of last season where he started for the heat, in these 17 games he averaged 14.3PPG / 6.2 APG / 2 TO PG / 1.5 STL / 3.5 RPG in 33 minutes.
Arroyo had a stretch of 23 games that he started in, while not consecutive like Quinn's 17 games, these were close together due to injuries to Nelson and Dooling, in these 23 games he averaged 7.4 PPG / 4.0 APG / 1.1 TO PG / .3 STL / 1.7 RPG in 26 minutes.
I'd say Quinn did fairly well in 33 minutes for his 17 games...

Something aint right there because Arroyo only started 20 games all of last year....Ive got 27.8mpg 46.8fg% 9.3ppg 2.1rpg 4.6apg 1.7topg
Quinn started 25 games and went 32.7mpg 42.5fg% 11.6ppg 3.0rpg 4.9apg 1.5topg
either way...if we end up with him fine whatever, but i hope we are looking at more (aka. better) options than him. Whatever decent run of 11 games he had the fact that he had the luxury of playing with D-Leaguers cant be ignored taht it made him one of the top players on the court at times.
Hes ok as a third stringer i guess but id just hope wed go for someone that has a shot at developing towards becoming something more.

Re: Magic interested in Chris Quinn!
I think as the 3rd string PG he would be all right if he would come for cheap. But honestly I see AJ and him as a step down from Dooling and Arroyo. I liked Dooling but hated Arroyo and I just thought they were average as the backup PGs. However, I don't see much potential in Chris Quinn and Anthony Johnson is going to only get worse as he gets older. I just wish we would go for someone with a lot of potential like Crittenton b/c I don't really see it in Quinn.
