LOOSH Sheed will expire next season. T-Mac and RiP together wont work. T-Mac is 29 yo so not exactly a kid and he is injure prone. So even if Pistons need to get younger badly like you said, and no they don't need, trade billups and Sheed for T-Mac wont make them any better. So just accept the fact it wont happen because it´s terrible.
Other than that Pistons have been in the last 6 ECF finals even after drafting Darko over Carmelo or Bosh so even with a terrible mistake Joe is doing a great work. Rockets in other hand have their 2 stars and never pass the 1st round so bleh worry less about pistons and more about Rockets. Billups and Sheed wont be packed together unless it´s something really good for Pistons.
And dont take me bad i would love to see T-Mac playing for Pistons i just think Billups and Sheed for him is absurd.

Ha, I'm fine excepting the fact that it won't happen, I'm not a Rocket fan at all, I'm a Blazer fan. I was just merely making a suggestion since there have been rumors about the Pistons being interested in T-Mac, and I thought it would be a good fit for Houston.

The Darko comment was totally tongue in cheek...Joe D is a great GM.

You completely miss the point on the Billups/Sheed thing. Sheed is our starting C. We can't trade him without getting back a legit C in return. What are gonna do, start Stuckey, Rip, Prince, Tmac and Kwame Brown? **** no.

What are you going to do next year? trot the same old, declining lineup out there again just to get eliminated by the Celtics or Cavs? Dumars has seen the light, you should too; you guys are starting over with Stucky and Prince as your base.

Sheed is 34 and contemplating retirement after next year, you trade him for the best thing you can get while he still has value.

2) Guess that takes care of that, thanks for the definitive answer! You're probably right though, GM's never make reaches -- especially when they have an aging team and have publicly put 90% of their roster on the trading block... it would be almost as crazy as drafting Darko Milicic over Carmelo Anthony, except not even close!

Joe wants to put the team over the top. Trading Billups and Sheed for McGrady would not do that. Trading two all-stars for one injury prone star who is marginally better makes no sense at all (not that the trade I proposed makes much more sense). Joe is not one to act rashly out of desperation, which is what a trade like this would be.

Secondly, your point about drafting Darko over Carmelo is just plain silly. It wasn't widely panned at the time. In fact, Denver was really interested in Dark as well. It wasn't a "crazy" draft pick, it was just one that didn't turn out as the Pistons had hoped.

Used to be an All Star....used to be 28 years old.....etc. Sheed has just minor market value, look at his numbers Troy Murphy did as well for less $ and is not a guy anyone will trade an elite star for.
Billups had a bit better numbers than J Tinsley but you can get Tinsley for filler + crap...and he's less $ than Billups. Det. is peddling Sheed + Billups because they are high mileage short future. This is 2008,not 2004.
CENSORED... No comment.

Damn i am going to cheer for Pacers. Troy Murphy + J Tinsley >> Billups + Sheed. Pacers will get into ECF this year for sure.
