WILL THIS WORK

Post#1 » by chaos07phx » Thu Jul 31, 2008 1:31 am

Phoenix needs a backup guard for Nash

Why are Phoenix not going after J.R. Smith and/or Jannero Pargo

J.R. Smith isnt really going to be a true PG, but he can be productive coming off the bench with Barbosa and Diaw

Jannero Pargo can be a true backup PG and played great last year and they havent resigned him. Phoenix getting him will be a steal. And dont have to spend much on him and he is unrestricted

Nash/Pargo
Bell/ Barbosa
Hill/Barnes
Amare/Lopez
Shaq/Skinner/Lopez

OR

Nash/Smith
Bell/Barbosa
Hill/Barnes
Amare/Lopez
Shaq/Skinner/Lopez

Unfortunately, I don't see J.R. as the answer.

We have JR Smith in Barbosa and Barnes. I think scoring off the bench won't be a problem. Its more the backup pg, and I don't see JR as disciplined enough to help with that. He is also supposedly a headcase (though I guess many players are).

Pargo I thought was looked at last year, and not one that the team seemed to think would fit. Who knows though.

Pargo is a nice player, but I think he is more of a scoring PG, rather than a distributor; which is what I think the Suns are looking for. He is also out of their price range.

That said if they moved Barbs and brought back less money in return, Pargo could fill his slot in a more balanced manner, and maybe, for less money.

Yeah, and we can't afford them. Well, we could with the MLE, but Sarver is not using that sucker again this year. Smith is good, but is a head case, and pargo is a mini barbosa, but not as good as he is.

JR Smith is a poor man's Artest with the off court problems, but he can't defend like Artest, so he isnt worth going deep into the lux tax. Pargo, I would love, but I believe he will stay with the Hornets. If we could get him, great. If not, Sam I am AKA Alien, here we come.
