Kwame to Detroit

Kwame Brown is with the Pistons as of today. The Pistons signed him to a two yr deal worth 8 million. It's reasonable considering it's Kwame we're talking about.

As a Pistons fan, I hate this move. I'm not even going to go into the bull about "what kind of player is he?" on every single board.

I wish I was 7 feet tall with "potential".

Don't worry there is no potential there!

Really isn't. He'll collect his six fouls and call it a day.

^^
Agreed. He can come in and lean on somebody until he collects his 6 fouls. Might do a good job of tiring out the opponent, but other than that..don't expect much.

Wow, 4 million a year. Kwame's still proving that you can ride draft status and perceived potential for an entire career. Let's see if he can finish it !

On another subject, we should start a thread on potential. What really makes up potential? I don't think that skill, age, and athleticism are really even the top factors. Yet it seems that every NBA team out there that signs Kwame disagrees. =(

Just to play the devils advocate on this I'm not so sure that Dumars overpaid for Brown.

Milicic's stats aren't much better and he played more minutes. Factor in the minutes differential and they are both pretty even. The look at what Darko makes compared to Brown and the return on the dollar isn't as bad as what the Grizzlies are paying out.

And Eddy Curry makes well over double what Brown will make and he rebounds less. I'm not trying to defend Kwame in any way since I too think he's had a lousy career since day one and isn't ever going to be a key player on any team. But I wouldn't go as far as saying that Detroit overpaid. For what he does I think it's about right considering that 7 footers usually do get paid more.

That's a valid point but I was only looking at averages and trying to put them together for comparisons.

But Brown isn't the Grizzlies concern anymore.

Return to Memphis Grizzlies
