Re: The 2010 Plan
Here are a list of the 2009 Free Agents who will most likely affect teams 2010 plan...
I think teams of less desirable destinations and teams that are afraid their better players will leave if they dont see the franchise commit to a championship calibre team may be big players in 2009
mike bibby
drew gooden
jason kidd
allen iverson
rip hamilon ETO
rasheed wallace
kobe ETO
lamar odom
shaun marion
mark blount ETO
jamal crawford ETO
eddie curry ETO
Quentin Richardson ETO
stephon Marbury
hedo turkoglu ETO
andre miller
grant hill
ron artest
jermaine oneal
carlos boozer
mehmet okur ETO
kyle korver ETO
of course there are others but i short listed the better players

Re: The 2010 Plan
This is my likely scenarios for 2009
NY Knicks sign Ron Artest
Chicao Bulls sign Rasheed Wallace and let Drew Gooden walk
Houston Rockets sign Lamar Odom and let Ron Artest walk
Detroit Pistons re-sign Rip Hamilton
Phoenix Suns re-sign Grant Hill
Golden State signs Shaun Marion
Houston signs Lamar Odom and lets Ron Artest Walk
Utah re-signs Carlos Boozer and let Mehmet Okur walk
Toronto re-signs Jermaine O'neal and Jamario Moon
Cleveland signs Mike Bibby and Mehmet Okur
Oklahoma signs Hedo Turkoglu
Philly re-signs Andre Miller
Charlotte signs Drew Gooden
Dallas re-signs Jason Kidd
Orlando signs Allen Iverson and lets Hedo Turkoglu walk
so my thinking is i dont think Gooden is a part of the Bulls plans and Charlotte will probably overpay to get themselves a PF.
Rasheed may not be the best PF out there but Marion and Hedo will command more money than they are willing to pay and atleast with Sheed it wont need to be a longterm deal
Artest says he wants to test Free agency and he has said he wanted to play in NY before and since they should have a little money, i could see them get him
Marion would fit in nicely with Golden St. and i could see them paying the type of money he would command especially with Harrington off the books
Utah will probably try to keep Okur, but i think he will get more money elsewhere, especially in a team like Cleveland which will try desperately in 09 to build a team that Lebron could believe in although i think he still walks.
I think they will also go after a PG which is why i figured Bibby because i don think they can pry Kidd away from Dallas
Oklahoma should be in good position to overpay someone and if Hedo has another season like this past one i think Orlando will let him go as they need a reliable guard
This is where i have Iverson coming here as i think the A.I. experiment is over in Denver...
I think Houston will try and nab Lamar Odom as Artest's replacement as well
2010 comin up....

Re: The 2010 Plan
Likely scenarios for 2010
NY knicks sign Joe Johnson
NJ Nets sign Lebron James
Miami re-signs Dwayne Wade, Stephen Jackson, and possibly Brendan Haywood and let Udonis Haslem walk
Boston re-signs Ray Allen (for less money)
Atlanta signs Marcus Camby
Chicago signs Michael Redd
Houston re-signs Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming, and Rafer Alston
Detroit signs Brad Miller and lets Antonio McDyess Walk
Phoenix re-signs Amare Stoudemire as well Steve Nash (for less money), Shaq retires but Raja Bell walks
Utah signs Raja Bell
Toronto signs Mike Miller and lets Jason Kapono walk
Cleveland loses Lebron James
Minnesota signs Travis Outlaw
Sacramento signs TJ Ford and Udonis Haslem
Dallas re-signs Dirk Nowitski
NO re-signs Tyson Chandler and Peja Stoyakovic (less money)
SA re-signs Manu Ginobli and Fabricio Oberto
this leaves me with no home for Richard Jefferson and Jamal Crawford
The Lakers may be able to get RJ here
There is also the strong possibility that Nash doesnt believe in Phoenix anymore and goes somewhere to try to get a ring but it would probably be with a veteran western conference team like Houston or the Lakers...
and there you have it...

Re: The 2010 Plan
I think a little too much stock is being put in the 2010 class because 2009 is not too shabby and i compiled a list of guys scheduled to come off the books in 2011 and its not too bad either...
For teams like Indiana who have a 2011 plan this could be a good year for them in the market as well as younger teams who are still growing in 2010 and missed the bus
Paul Pierce
Jason Richardson
Nazr Mohammed
Kirk Hinrich
Josh Howard
Eric Dampier
Samuel Dalembert
Tony Parker
Nick Collison
Andrei Kirilenko
Caron Butler
Kenyon Martin
Tayshaun Prince
Troy Murphy
Mike Dunleavy
Jamal Tinsley
Pau Gasol
Marko Jaric
Antwain Walker
Zach Randolph
also there is a team option on Vince Carter
also i didnt mention the rookies as i expect that most of them will be re-signed except maybe Tyrus Thomas and Adam Morrison, maybe even Andrea Bargnani if he doesnt pan out...
Please forgive me if i have guys listed in any years where they dont actually come off the books
Thanks

Re: The 2010 Plan
I don't know about your Utah prognostications. I think the Jazz will lose Boozer and use Memo as a power forward again. They won't trade AK, who after his contract is SO getting big bucks from CSKA. The big question is to see how Koufos and Fesenko develop. They are both really raw now and have super upside. Raja is a good call, as he like Matt Harpring is everything the team likes in a player. The issue there is he will be a low salary player. He doesn't have huge talent, so he may not be able to take the slowing of age.

Re: The 2010 Plan
Morten Jensen...I dont think these guys can sign Gordon to tell you the truth, they should just let him walk. Rose is going to be a great player and eventually he will need a max. Noah is going to be average atleast. but what sucks about that is that average bigmen get big money. Okafur and Beidrens are only slightly better than average right now and are getting 11-12. If Noah continues on the path he was near the end of the season, i could see him land around 10 when its contract time. How much max guys can you have on your team
We can afford to sign Gordon. That's not the problem. Besides, Rose is up for an extension in 2012 first. So that shouldn't be a problem. We can easily move guys around. I mean, hypothetically.. If we sign LeBron, we wouldn't need Deng and he could be moved in a cost-saving trade.
Trust me when I say the Bulls board have gone through every possible scenario

Bayless is a Blazer. Ford and Jarrett Jack are ahead of Diener. So I agree with CircleCity that he won't be in Indy after his contract expires. He can make more money than he does now after that, but it won't be with us.

So you think you guys can sign Deng to 70 mil and Gordon for 70 mil to go along with whatever your paying Hinrich and possibly have money for Lebron ? I just was reading that they are interested in Brad Miller as well which would most likely result in a new contract.
I dont think the Bulls have any hope in Lebron, really they wouldnt commit to Deng if they did. Executive management supposedly loves Deng. Gordon getting his kind of money would be a joke

Point is Diener will get a raise, but your probably right, most likely not with Indiana

Why would Boozer leave Utah though, Deron Williams will probably be the 2nd best PG for the majority of his NBA career, plus with AK off the books in 2011 if they remain a strong western conference team, they could probably sign one of those superstars that are free agents that year. I know Boozer has a history of disloyalty but honestly if they lose Booze, they will never make the playoffs with Okur at PF and then eventually Deron Williams will leave

You're not reading my posts are you?
I said we were going to have Deng & Gordon as our only long-term and high-priced players. Hinrich would be gone. Brad Miller expires in 2010 BTW and won't be re-signed if that means missing out on any FA.
We're in a good position. Teams have shown interest in Hinrich. We could easily move him for expiring(s). Since Deng is now locked up, I highly expect Nocioni to be moved. In a Miller deal or for an expiring of his own.

Re: The 2010 Plan
NYK will have more expirings in 2010 then they do now.
i think NYK will sign amare because of d'ntoni. maybe even nash to the MLE or also try to pair amare with joe johnson.
2010 is too far to tell. they won't sign ron ron next year with wilson chandler/gallinari on the team..

Both guys are nice backups for now. New York needs a quick turn around when they fix their cap woes, they've been a basement stallwort for the last couple years and with LBJ pending to arrive in NJ/Brooklyn, The Knicks will not be the biggest show in town anymore. Ron Ron is a great #2 guy on a team, especially if they steal an Amare from Phoenix in the Dantoni system, Chris Duhon will look like Nash
