As for the Grant thing and d-line you have valid points, but separate issues from this Favre thing.
I think that the Packers have to have been able to look into the future to know what Brett was going to do. People there had known him for basically 16 years. If he told them that he was going ot report, that he wanted to play, they should have been able to have a good idea what would happen, and it probably wouldn't have been as bad as it is.
I believe that you can't ignor the other football issues that are out there. We are what, 10 days away from our first game against Cincy, I believe? The packers need to get going, get stuff done.
If, when Brett wrote his letter asking for a release, they should have either brought him on the team, and delt with it as basically only the team. The media wouldn't have been as big, and it would have been mostly pro packers. But they pushed the issue. Which is fine, so they moved on. Big deal. Then they should have got a list from Brett, which we all know would have been just the Vikes, then they could have made their decision to either back track, and bring Brett in, or trade him to Minny.
Don't mis-lead the fans, don't stumble and lie to make yourself look better, Packers. Make your decision and live with it.
Either way Brett is going to be under center for a team September 8th, at Lambeau....
