who else is REALLY excited for this season?

Post#1 » by bulldogcharly » Thu Jul 31, 2008 9:00 am

im more excited for this season for the clippers than i am the lakers. i always expect the lakers to do well, but for me to expect the clippers to do well before the season starts is a rare thing. we have a great team right now with some returning faces.

i just watched videos from the 06 playoffs and just watching them on youtube make me feel amazing. that was back when cassell was still pretty quick and was a great leader and when livingston started showing signs of being a great pg in this league. mobley was still great and brand was just amazing. i felt so good for brand to finally taste the playoffs and actually win a series and then go to 7 games against a #2 seed.

i want to make the playoffs again and have that great feeling again. some clipper fans' goal might be to make the playoffs but for me its to win another series. that is possible with the team we have. baron davis will be an amazing leader. jordan and gordon will be great rookies. ricky davis and camby are great additions who will help out a lot. hart will help us a lot as well. we'll also get to see thornton and kaman continue to improve and hopefully thornton will get to the playoffs.

.

Well absolutely --- I can't imagine not feeling excited at the prospects this year.
There are certainly still some questions --- one of them for me is whether Ricky Davis is going to be able to fit into the system and play team ball --- but in general, this is looking like a good year to be a Clipper fan.
And we haven't had too many of those lately.
So sure  aren't we all pretty excited?

Yup. Only thing missing was James Singleton. :P Just think of Thornton starting and Singleton backing him up. That's non-stop excitement right there! ohohohoo boy would that have been a real doozy.

I think all of us are excited for the upcoming season. We have Baron Davis to throws lobs to Gordon, Thornton, R Davis, Jordan, and Camby. We're going to be exciting on the fast break.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

I'm excited because the team's so different. Huge pickups of Davis and Camby, coupled with the departure of Brand and Maggette definitely have made this into a big offseason. Even the pickup of R. Davis has got me curious. And from the little I've seen of the rookies in the summer league, as well as Thornton's dominance in some games, has got me excited too.

Aside from Kaman, Thornton and Mobley, all of our key guys are totally different! This is going to be an exciting season no matter what happens. I mean, there are so many new faces but the difference is: they're veterans and they're actually good. Before, seeing new faces on a Clipper team usually just meant D-leaguers nobody has ever heard of. Now we have an all-star PG, a defensive player of the year, and a guy who can dunk and shoot the 3 among the best of them. Maybe losing Elton Bland was a blessing in disguise. This franchise was going nowhere with that guy.

I'm know I'm really excited. They are so many intertwining storylines that will be played out this season. With all of the new faces, I'm anxious to see how the team is going to gel, how the young players will progress, and ultimately how legit we really are. I think we have a pretty good chance at making the playoffs, but at the very least I know that it's going to be a much better season than last year. Last off-season our biggest addition was Brevin Knight. This off-season speaks for itself. I can't wait to see Baron out there on the court for us.

i agree. the media will pay more attention to the clippers this season. there will be some interesting games this season like clippers/warriors and clippers/sixers. the media will hype them up and they will probably be on national tv. i remember last year when i watched highlights of the clippers games on sportscenter they wouldnt show any of the amazing clippers plays. after watching a game id be excited to see what the sportscenter guys would say about thornton and his good games but they barely payed attention to it. now with a whole new team and some big stars and also a chance to be a contender we will get noticed.

i hope the clippers have the same type of season as the jazz did in 07. the jazz were predicted to be an 8th seed at best that year and made the WCF. i hope the clippers do the same.

I'm excited. I think this year is one of the few years that we actually have a shot. I don't know how far we'll go or what will happen, but I'm really looking forward to going to the games. I'm looking for big things from Al and Eric Gordon this year. If they start making it onto sportscenter, we'll have tons of fun this upcoming year.

I know what you mean about SportsCenter. Even if the game was close, if you looked at the highlights, you would think that we got destroyed. So it'll be nice to get some decent recognition this season. Baron should definitely put us on TV more. I stay loyal to Ralph, so I end usually catching both telecasts (National & Local), but I'm always interested in what the analysts may have to say about some of our players. I don't think a lot of people are sold on this team yet, but I believe that we have gotten them a bit more interested. Before the season started in 2005, they weren't sold on that team either. If we stay healthy for the most part, I think we're going to surprise quite a few people.

yeah i think near the end of the season, the clippers played in SA and lead pretty much the whole game and then blew it in the last 2 min of the 4th. i saw maybe 1 clippers highlight during the highlights of the game on sportscenter. they would show like 5 straight spurs baskets and then you looked at the score and the clippers were somehow ahead. i mean if the clippers are up they must've been doing something right, but the media didnt care about the clippers they wanted to make the defending champs look good.

and yeah i definitely think we can surprise some people. people are saying we'll be fighting with the warriors and blazers for the last two spots but i think we're on a higher tier than both of them currently. i think we have a chance to get to the 6 spot or maybe even the 5 spot. i will be nervous if we make the playoffs though because the west is strong as ever and they have just as many good players as we do and pretty much all of them have more chemistry since the teams been together longer.

I'm excited for the season to start, as well.

Even though we don't have a great low post scorer anymore(Kaman is good, but not great), i think we'll be able to score quite some points, with B-Diddy at the pg spot and guys like Thornton, Gordon, Davis etc. running along with him.

Also, with Kaman & Camby patroling the paint, i think we'll play solid perimeter defense as well, cause all of them can play their man very tight, knowing that those two big dudes are going to help them out.

So i expect a fun season that should result into a playoff spot, if Davis, Camby and Kaman are able to stay healthy.

We never really get much respect from ESPN. I always thought we had some great plays that were highlight material but were never put on. NBATV always had good highlights for us though.

Yea, NBATV is good with the highlights in terms of showing both teams or at least the better team during the specific game more. I'm excited about the season myself, should be real good, I was excited about 06/07, but that didn't work out so well. Anyways, should be a good season.

guys... I'm all for making a bet with some of you cause I say this team will NOT win more than 35 wins. If you have some idea what that bet should look alike, let me know.

and...

I don't wanna start some stupid flame wars, but
1) guy who wrote this should be kicked in his mouth

Maybe losing Elton Bland was a blessing in disguise. This franchise was going nowhere with that guy.

Elton Brand (and his best season of his life) was THE ONLY reason LAC made PO. I' really surprised someone can be such an ass to one of the best who ever wore LAC's jersey.

2) you have ASG PG? Excuse me? When was the last time Baron Davis was an all-star?

Sure, with Ricky Davis, Mobley, Camby, Tim Thomas, you have a pack of players, who USED TO BE very, very good players. That's past. Your players will need some time to get used to the others, it will take some time. I'm not sending these guys to a retirement house but time's running pretty fast for Clippers

3) Marcus Camby plays TIGHT DEFENSE? Man... I've seen over 100 Nuggets games over the last two seasons and Marcus Camby playing tight defense... Charles Barkley couldn't be funnier

you're just simple little boy who can't debate at any costs. I'm not gonna ask, you DO believe this article, don't ya? Ranking Brian Skinner, who was not as good to break into Milwaukee Bucks feary front court, B+. Ricky cancer Davis A-. It's funny as you are.

A most funny part of that article is
If Camby can stay healthy as he has the past few years in Denver, the Clippers should lead the league in rebounding and shot blocking.

This is excellent. The only reason Nuggets had some big rebounding numbers was caused only by fast pace of the game. They're REGULARY outrebounded by their opponents. This was (sad to say) mostly Marcuses fault. He will go for his rebound even a ball goes to his teammates hands. That's how he collect these 15+ rebounds performances. He just never boxes out.

so good bye child and write me as soon as you learn different than just swearing
