I don't think it's a lot of interest in him. He is an undersized SG, no all around game, and couldn't defend a chair.

Do you want to keep Hinrich or not?

Like I said, I would rather keep Gordon than Hinrich. Gordon's scoring is much needed and he is a LEGIT scorer that can score from anywhere. Yeah there are few things that he could do better like finish better around the basket etc etc but he has improved any atleast 1 aspect of his game every year in the league and a deadly 3pt shooter.

The thing is that he had to create his own shots most of the time - that's why his shooting is little low but he is the best we had last year who could create his own shot off the dribble. Now that we have Rose, Gordon makes 100x more sense than Hinrich. Rose can penetrate at will and with Gordon and Deng spacing the floor, Rose would have no problem penetrating - so he can score himself or if they collapse on him, he has 3 options - pass it to open 3pt man in BG, or Deng from mid range, or alley oop to Tyrus.

They all compliment each other so well.

I would definitely give Gordon 6 years $65mil extension and then trade Hinrich to Denver for their trade exception and a 1st round pick. This way we won't go into Lux tax and we have a solid core of players that would compliment so well.

I think Denver fans should be thrill to get Hinrich for practically nothing.

^^ Thanks, I understand your viewpoint now. I'm in agreement with you, after reflecting on whether I would want a backcourt Rose & Hinrich, or Rose & Gordon.

I imagine PHX would much rather have Barbosa at his price tag than Gordon, unless Gordon can be signed to a similar contract, but if that was true, than CHI would have already signed him by now.

Edit: CHI's offering 60 over 6 and he wants more? Yeah, I'm thinking cost-conscious Phoenix would definitely value Barbosa over Gordon since he's a heck of a lot cheaper.

Whatever team pays his atrocious contract is going to be sorry. Honestly, he *might* peak as a middle-of-the-pack shooting guard. The position is so deep that a 2 who can only shoot and plays no defense isn't that highly coveted or valued.

Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Tracy McGrady, Michael Redd, Joe Johnson, Vince Carter, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson, Brandon Roy, Peja Stojakovic, Andre Iguodala, Manu Ginobili, Kevin Durant, Rip Hamilton, Jason Richardson are all better SGs.

I would argue for players like Monta Ellis and Kevin Martin over him as well, and both seem to project better in the long run. How much longer will Gordon be a better player than the likes of OJ Mayo, Stuckey, Bellinelli?

He's clearly not worth what he thinks.

gordon's already a middle of the pack shooting guard...he's not getting paid for his shooting guard abilities...he'd be getting paid (or wants to get paid) for his scoring ability...

believe it or not, but ben gordon is a pretty elite scorer...im not saying the likes of a kobe or tmac or lebron or arenas...but he scores at a clip favorable to joe johnson, vince carter, michael redd etc...and this is without getting to the line a great deal like 2 of those 3 players do

as for your list...i have a couple of issues...iggy, durrant, iverson, and tmac arent really 2's (closes one to a 2 in this list is tmac and he only plays the position b/c they have a sf who is their defensive stopper)

not only that, but i personally believe ray allen is pretty over the hill and outside of height and height alone ben gordon is completely better at everything else (yes, including defense) sans ball handling

there are some sg's clearly better than gordon like kobe, wade, and tmac if you are including him

and there are some other guards that you might value more b/c they bring other aspects outside of scoring (like getting to the free throw line) like joe johnson, monta ellis, kevin martin, and michael redd...but honestly...players like that are in the same league of dominance to gordon...yeah, they are better but they arent "gtfo give me them 1000 times over" better than gordon. gordon could very easily average 22 points next year (i believe he put up 21.8 in 06-07) which is right around all of those guys average...

like i said, you'd pay gordon to score...

Gordon's defense is wildly underrated by the majority of the board. He's too short to defend the big 2's like Carter, Kobe, etc effectively on a regular basis, but his defense is actually pretty good on guys his size. But therein lies the problem; he's not really a point guard but can't defend his position effectively against most opposing 2's so his value takes a big hit.

As far as shooting goes, there's very few guys in the NBA that are his equal. He's a career 41.6% 3 point shooter and routinely shoots over 50% eFG% on jump shots. As a guy to play off Rose's penetration, Gordon would be absolutely lethal on offense.

Cliff Levingston would agree with anyone who says that $12 mil per year is overpaying. $10 mil per year might even be a little much, but if that's what it takes to re-sign him, then Cliff Levingston wouldn't be upset with that.

When Gordon has someone create shots for him, his shooting ability is matched by only a handfull of players. With Rose in Chicago, not sure why Paxson would want to move him. Of course, his D can be exposed by bigger guards, but he still has a weapon that all championship squads need. Maybe he wants way too much cash?
