Utah - Detroit - Charlotte

Post#1 » by The Social Misfit » Fri Aug 1, 2008 10:24 pm

Kinda crazy, but I think each team gets good value.
Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Utah, Detroit, and Charlotte being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Utah, Detroit, and Charlotte had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I am a little torn on it. I think that I would go along with it but I wouldn't be real exicted about it.

I guess our starters would look like:

deron
rip
brew
okur
nazr

I think I would prefer prince to rip.

I don't think this makes the Jazz a better team now or in the future, so I say no. Rip is a nice player, but I'm not sure he brings enough to offset losing Booz. Likewise with Gerald Wallace. Nice player, but is he going to give us any more than we get for Kirilenko? i doubt it. I can see the rationale, if you think Booz is going to walk, but the Jazz can pay him more than anyone else, so I'm not willing to let him go unless we can find someone who can immediately fill in at PF or Center (and, no, Nazr is NOT the answer).

The Jazz can't trade both AK and Boozer with out getting a real starting PF or C in return. Nazr is not even close to out 8th man. One of Ak or Boozer would have to stay. If either of them and Harp or Korver was replaced then maybe.

That's a terrible trade for Detroit. They trade their all-star backcourt and best young big man for AK's bloated contract, Felton and Almond?

I'm an AK fan but at 16 and 17 million a year for 3 years his trade value isn't all that high.

The 4 best players in this trade are Boozer, Billups, Rip, and Wallace and Detroit gives up 2 and gets back none.

Yeah, that's a bad trade for both Utah and Detroit.
