Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
Right now, I would say Sixers or Magic. Orlando finished 3rd in the East last season and managed to snag some useful veteran role players in offseason. However, Sixers managed to get veteran All-Star at their weakest position. They still need at least one shooter.

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
I'd say Philly or Orlando as well.
Chicago doesn't really have a "bright" future per se; a solid one, but until and unless they make some moves and shuffle things up, and until we see what kind of coach Del Negro is, there's not a whole lot for which to be optimistic about them.
Philly, on the other hand, has Brand, Iggy, Dally and now a re-signed Louis Williams and they look quite promising. Oh yeah, and Thad Young and Andre Miller. Yikes.
Orlando has Dwight, so that's reason enough, nevermind Hedo's emergence. They have sort of a treadmill taste about them, though, so we'll see.
If I had to choose one, I'd choose Philly.

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
i'd have to go magic
followed by the raptors
followed by the 76ers
and i put the bulls last b/c i dont want to be called a homer but in terms of the future i'd take them over the 76ers
the reason why i cant say the 76ers is b/c while they did make a huge signing and got a great player to go to a team that made the playoffs and is getting better internally...they signed a prime player who will be going into the twillight of his career by the end of that contract...and while they did make the playoffs, they werent any where near a contender and signing brand put them in a win NOW mode...so the future...ehh??? im not too sure...the immediate future is bright as hell for them...number 1 undoubtly...but 2-3 years down the line???

In 2 years, Miller will be 33, Brand 30 and Dalembert 28. I'd say they'll still have some fuel left in them.

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
brighter future is a too general of a question. do you mean, who will be better next year? or for the next 5 years? because there is a distinct difference.
If we are saying who will be better next year I would go with the Magic, because they were better than all of those teams and they have the same core, whereas Philly and Toronto are adding key core pieces and no one knows how they will fit.
Do I think Brand will be a great piece for Philly? I think he could be, but I by no means think it is a given. Just ask Knicks fans. They thought they were playoff bound after adding Zach Randolph (a 20 and 10 post player), and we all know how that turned out.
Chicago has no identity yet. They are definitely in rebuild mode. But, they have some great pieces. Deng is already proven. Gordon is too, if they keep him. Rose is supposed to be the next coming. But, they really lack a much needed go to front court player. I really think they will regret not taking Beaseley and keeping their existing guard core. But, only time will tell.
I love Calderon's and Bosh's games. If J Oneal can get anywhere close to his all star performance this year, then they could be very tough. But, that is a large IF.

The Bulls are easily the worst team right now, but honestly I wouldn't trade our roster for the Raptors or Sixers roster.
I'd think about trading it for the Magic roster, though, simply because of Dwight Howard.

Magic, the 76ers have guys in their prime. Dwight will get even better.

It's not just about the roster, though. Cheeks and his coaching staff has done a great job, and they're already one of the best defensive teams in the league. Del Negro, on the other side, is completely unproven for now and I'm a bit sceptical about a rookie head coach leading such a young team.

I don't know if the Raptors really have a "bright" future. They don't really have any good young talent (unless you consider Bosh "young" at 24). I'd say they definitively come in last place if we are talking about young talent. But that doesn't mean they would have a brighter future...

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
There are a lot of variables to consider, and it really comes down to player development, particularly among each teams' franchise player. Example: if Dwight plateaus, the Magic are likely a solid 2-6 seed for the next few years, but will struggle to move past that due to CAP issues. However, if Dwight continues to improve over that time frame from season to season to the same degree he has his first few seasons in the league, then Orlando starts to look incredibly good, maybe even dominant. So who knows?

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
Chicago had 1 bad year and most of people's opinion changed big time.
We had a down year but we found that 1st option/go to guy/a franchise player with #1 pick in Derrick Rose combine that with already good/solid players in Gooden/Deng/BG/Tyrus/Thabo.
I think a lot of opinions will change if we do this same thread again next year coz This is the year FINALLY Tyrus and THabo will get those development minutes and will play a lot and all of a sudden people will see why bulls are high on these players.
Just my 2 cents.

It's quite amusing that you don't think the raptors have young talent and you are a raptor fan.
Bosh-24
Calderon-25
Kapono-26
Graham-24
Humphries-23
Not to mention the rookies Jawai and Ukic but we don't know how they will turn out.
Anyways I think Orlando has a bright future just because of how young and how good Howard is. If the Bulls start clicking offensively they can be dangerous. Toronto and the Sixers will be dangerous quickly if they are healthy.

Re: Brighter Future: Raptors, Sixers, Bulls or Magic
The Bulls- They've been stockpiling young talent for quite sometime now, and they got developing stars in the making
Magic- Honestly, these last 3 teams can be placed in any order. But I went with the Magic solely because of Dwight Howard. I honestly don't like the Magics future. Hedo is aging, so is Rashard and his ridiculous contract. If the Magics hadn't handicapped themselves with Rashard's contract, I probably would've put them first.. And Nelson isn't that good.. Outside of Dwight, and maybe Lee, I see nothing to get excited about..
Raptors- Bosh is Bosh, he's not a superstar in the same light as a Dwight Howard, but he's good enough to warrant me putting the Raps here.. Not to mention Calderon is still primarily young.
Sixers- They're in a win now mode, and rightfully so, Igoudala isn't a superstar, I love the guy, but it's the truth.. Once Elton and Miller ages, it's back to square one. At least they still have Daly and Louis Williams to look forward too..

It's even more amusing that you mentioned Graham in a list consisting of "young talent". Emphasis on the talent.
