If you were a NBA Owner and you were guaranteed a title but you had to have a $100 million dollar a year payroll would you accept it?

You can't have a $100M payroll due to NBA Salary Cap issues.......

Yeah I would. Because you would bring in at least 100 million a year in TV contracts, ticket sales (20,000 per game for at least 41 regular season games and 8 playoff games), jersey sales, cooperate sponsors, etc. The average NBA team brings in a revenue of 119 million a year with a profit of 9.8 million a year according to Forbes.com
To Dare Is To Do? 13 League Titles. You've only got 2.

Hell yea!!! Winning sells tickets and merchandise. And with a payroll that huge that would mean my team would have a lot of star power which is a dream for marketing.

If I were rich enough to wipe my ass with C-notes, sure.

But if you meant would I have a $100 M payroll, with almost $40 M additional in luxury tax, with the assumption that I'm running in the red? Hell no, I'd rather disgrace my favorite sport by mailing it in like Donald Sterling.

Knicks make approximately 1.3 million dollars each game OR more. That's prob on a bad day that they receive 1.3, it's more close to 2 million a game.

easy decision here, as some people have pointed out, there have been instances of 90mil payrolls that dont win jack. so whats a 100mil payroll at that point?

Absolutely. You'd make it back with all the extra playoff games, jersey sales, ticket sales, etc. not to mention the value of the franchise would likely go up significantly.

No-brainer. $100M won't buy you a championship, but a championship can bring in $100M.

So, basically the question should be reworded to; Should your team's owner cough up the required amount of money to go over the lux tax to accommodate certain transactions?

O....K....
