And the penalty for Steve Smith is....

2 game suspension.

So any opinions on that?

I think it's a reasonable punishment, I think he should've gotten an additional fine.

Well, thats pretty much the minimum they could have done. Considering he got suspended one game for his previous fight with a teammate and that one wasnt as bad. He definitely should have been fined in addition though.

Despite likely being their best player, the Panthers really should get rid of him. There probably isnt a huge market given his attitude though, but im sure Al Davis would take him. Is there a receiver in the league that Al wouldnt take?

On another note, Smith still isnt even close to being the biggest douche the Panthers have ever had at WR.

Oh man do I wish I could go into greater detail on this whole fiasco here...

This fight has been brewing for a long time. Both guys are extremely fiery, competitive guys and both talk nonstop trash. And it's not just trash talking, it's truly mean-spirited and threatening, primarily from Smith. It surprised nobody except that it happened on the sidelines.

How Steve Smith handles this will have a major impact on this team over the next couple of seasons. If he doesn't change his ways right now, he absolutely will be moved next summer or perhaps even during this season if the Panthers get a 1-3 start or worse. To say Smith is not popular in the locker room is both an understatement but also an overreaction, if that makes any sense. Everyone loves his work ethic and how he pushes everyone around him for excellence. But they also get sick of him playing "coach" on the field, pointing out every little negative. He has zero tact and very poor people skills and a real nasty temperment, always looking to instigate conflict.

Not a day goes by where Smith doesn't demand they cut Dwayne Jarrett, often right in front of Jarrett like he doesn't matter at all. Smith is the only reason Ryne Robinson is still around and why Jeff Carter is getting such a long look (he might start those two games now). I know the coaches are sick of his mouth.

If this guy is such a bad locker room guy, given his great work ethic and (at times) unbelievable play, why don't they just solve the problem before it gets too out of hand?

Interesting, never knew SS was such a Douche Bag. He kinda looks like one though, it sounds like he's got the Isaiah Thomas/Napolean complex going. I thought this was a isolated incident, but I guess not.

Between Smitty and Delhomme I don't know anyone could enjoy playing on that offense. They're both d-bags. Delhomme has never made a mistake in his life apparently. This is the third time (IIRC) that Smitty has beat the **** out of a teammate. Last season when D. Hall got 60 some yards of penalties on one drive, Smith was doing just as much. They're really like the same person playing different positions. I think that may be why Hall owns him more than any other CB.

LOL. Remember last year in training camp, Dwayne Jarrett was speaking with reporters. Steve Smith approached the interview and asked Jarrett "Instead of talking to the media, why don't you go watch some film?" Jarrett at first laughed, then Smith followed up by saying "Seriously," in a strong tone
Brother Mouzone: You're the perfect bait. They will view you as conflicted, you're homophobia is so visceral.

Lamar: See that. I haven't even walked in the place yet and you're already calling me a c0cksucker.

Steve Smith has really made this a bad situation for his teammates and everyone associated with Carolina. It's time for the team to take Steve to a locked room and break his nose.

Not really a big deal to me at all, things get heated on the field, I've been a few scraps with my own teammates.

As long as it isn't a lingering issue, which I guess it could be, they should be fine, but hearing both Steve and Ken's statements, I wouldn't be too worried.

It has been a lingering issue though and they weren't on the field.
