Found this article on ESPN today about how the Artest deal gave Houston one of the top trios in the NBA, such as 'the big three' in Boston. Broussard rated them one to ten and I wondered where Deron, Booz, and Okur came in.
I was a little surprised. How about you?

If Okur plays like he did towards the end then the Jazz are in for a good season.

Re: NBA top trios
Okur definitely needs to play like he did at the end, however the real key will be Booz. I guarantee he is going to come in and go gangbusters next year. Let's face it, with the opt-out, he's going to be basically playing for his next contract and he wants to prove he is max money worthy. Plus, given his limited play time thus far in the Olympic tune-up games, he will be motivated to prove he should have been playing more minutes, as will Deron. I think this is the year Deron one-up's Chris Paul in the stats. If only he had more people to alley-oop to, neither Booz or Okur are good at going up and getting the ball and besides Brewer, AK and CJ don't get many opportunities to go backdoor for the oops..

Wow. Seriously, Broussard? The thing I really take issue with is listing tandems that haven't even PLAYED together above Deron, Booz, and Memo. Brand, AI, and Andre Miller could play well together, but to put them ahead of Deron/Booz/Memo sight-unseen? Yao/T-Mac/Artest is a little more reasonable, but the same principle applies.
I guess our boys will just have to go out and prove him wrong again.

Side note (and I honestly am not trying to be a smartass about this):
Another reason Yao/T-Mac/Artest is questionable as a tandem is that there will likely be long stretches when they're not on the court together, given Yao's and McGrady's propensity for injury.

Partially because I hate the Lakers, but I also don't agree with the kobeism #3 ranking for the unproven Laker trio. When have Gasol and Bynum proven anything together? Right now you'd have to say that Odom is their third best player.

its seems fair. If the report was on the best tandems, I am sure Boozer and DW would get in the top 5 in the league.

Can you imagine how good we will be next year if Memo plays like he did at the end of last year and Boozer plays ike he did in the playoffs last year against GS? And on top of that Deron plays like he did after the ASB?

Regardless of whether you consider Memo or AK the third member of the Jazz's big three, they have to be in the top ten, probably in the top six or seven. I'd say that Williams/Boozer/Okur are pretty comparable to Nash/Stoudemire/O' Neal and Paul/West/Chandler.

I dont understand why Shaq still considered a good player.... Shaq is done and barely an average center in this league.
Jazz have Williams and Boozer two of the top 5 offensive players in the league. Memo and Ak-47 also very good allstar caliber players...
How about a new test ..top quad combos in the league...Jazz four and Lakers four likely the best.

Wow!!! So I looked at that list and thought....ok which threesome would I trade the Jazz threesome for and I figure the Jazz are about 4 or 5th. I wouldn't trade for any of the other threesome... incredible. Probably another reporter that just doesn't watch the western conference much and relies on box scores.
Interesting the author talks about a few of these trios not to be good enough to contend for a ring but puts them in the top ten. Where the Jazz's trio IS a contender for the ring. His logic is off in my book.... how good can a trio be if they arn't a contender?

This is a pretty crappy list, but hopefully it motivates DWill and Booz to come out and prove them wrong. I love the way DWill responds to disrespect, so naturally, I welcome the disrespect and recognize the truth.
