Re: Official Olympics Group B Thread
This is the tougher group.
You'd think either Germany or China will get kicked out out of the top 5 teams.
US, Greece and Spain will dominate the group.
I almost like the Spanish team the most based on previous FIBA experience.
It goes without saying that the US is by far the most talented team, but I personally think they went too small in their selections, but they are clearly superior to where they were 4 years ago.

What's funny about it? Spain blew Russia out of the water and the USA struggled for a majority of the game.

That don't mean ****. The Hawks are not better than the Lakers, just because they took the C's to 7 games.
Spain is a great team, Team USA is a great team. We'll find out who is better in a few weeks.

I know that's not what it means. But it means enough that saying Spain will finish ahead of the USA does not deserve a "ROFL" reaction.

Yeah it does, and you can't argue with me. There's too many U.S. fans here, I don't know how many times I've said that. Nobody is going to agree with any team being ahead of the U.S.
Oh, so they have one bad game, so now they are worse than Spain. For all we know, Russia could have forfeited early and put in the scrubs in the fourth and that's why Spain won by 35 (and no it's not 40, it's 35 I looked it up). I am basing that we are better and it would travesty if we lost with the talent on paper. Obviously we won't know until we actually play them, but you can't say they are better because they beat a certain team by a certain amount of points. We didn't play Kidd in the 2nd half, I doubt they took out one of their starters for the whole half. I don't think that really matters, but you can't say they are better than us because they beat Russia by 35. That's nonsense.

Re: Official Olympics Group B Thread
Exactly, we beat Lithuania by more than Spain did, but nobody cares to use that as a anti-Spain argument. Then Spain wins by more against a team, Spain is the favorite. You can tell who the favorite is just by reading the posts by non US posters.

How do you find me annoying? I mean, we have not won anything significant since 2000 and I think we a right to trash talk now that we have a legit team.

Re: Official Olympics Group B Thread
That's exactly it.
We have a legit team. Not a gold medal.
Talk that ish when we've done it.
Spain has enough talent to take down our squad. It doesn't matter if we can beat them 8 times out of 10.
One game. One loss. Simple as that.
The Celtics won the title. They also lost 16 games in the regular season and 10 in the playoffs on the way there.

While I agree with you that it's not out there to say Spain wins the group, I wouldn't use the Russia game as the reason why considering the game was in Spain.

Neither has Spain. Spain hasn't proved anything themselves either. They haven't won a gold medal. I don't know why they are so special. I mean their history only has one silver medal and that was back in the 70's. The US team has always been good, just won a gold medal in 2000. I don't know how you think Spain has enough talent to take our squad down. On paper, there's no way in hell that's happening.

you can say that again. People were making predictions and he happened to have picked Spain over US. So what! People are allowed to have opinions, and it's not like the prediction was even off base. We aren't as dominate as we used to be. Get over it.

Now don't get me wrong I fully believe we'll be the ones to walk away with Gold once it's all over, but I'm not over looking Spain.
