I think we definately should go after him, he is just what we need minus good defense. He would be a great backup and is good at running our style of offense and is Shaqs friend so that should get both of them more motivated.
Do it Sarver, at least try!!!

Suns 1st Team:
PG - Nash
SG - Bell
SF - Hill
PF - Stoudemire
C - O'Neal
....but I tell you what gentlemen, our 2nd Unit wouldn't look too bad:
PG - Williams
SG - Barbosa
SF - Barnes
PF - Diaw
C - Lopez
That 2nd Unit could win NBA games by themselves. Not many of them, but they could win. Seeing as how our bench has historically been untrustworthy, it's interesting to see it taking shape before our eyes.

If there's one guy who can convince J-Will to take a pay-cut, it's Shaq. Him and J-Will are very close friends and I hope Kerr tries to get him to Phoenix because he'd be a great back-up PG for the team.

Shaq should just give him like 2 of his 20 mil to take a paycut. At least that's the kind of **** I would do...

+1.
I am amazed that with as many years as the league has been around that "benevolence" of this nature hasn't seen more development.
By "benevolence" I mean, friends taking pay cuts a la Duncan to team up together or to create more cap space for great FA acquisitions. We almost saw this with the Baron-Brand situation.
I guess the ultimate quest is to make as much money as possible and maybe win a ring if you can.... instead of it being the other way around; Win a ring with the money being ancillary.
I say this and I realize that no one is offering me millions to play any professional sports... so my opinion doesn't amount to much.

Man, anybody's an upgrade over LB/DJ running the point. As long as J-Will isn't a TO machine he's an upgrade. I hope he comes here!

Re: Shaq Wants J-Will To Join Suns
If anybody can convince Kerr and Sarver to get white chocolate here its Shaq, he can be very persuasive to both sides of the table, j-will would take a paycut to join a championship-caliber team, and kerr and sarver would be too scared to not listen to shaq.
On a side note, which j-will do you all like better? The Kings/Grizz j-will or the brainwashed-by-riley heat j-will?

I'll cheat and say a combo of both. Both sides have their merit.
I don't think Williams would have a hard time adjusting back to his old ways once he landed in PHX. As long as he doesn't turn the ball over, we know he'll be an improvement over Barbosa at the point.
Players in PHX already know to look for those no-look passes courtesy of our current floor general.
Steve Nashty and White Chocolate on the same team? That's one hell of a 48-minute per game highlight reel... they could have an assist-off on fastbreaks down the court.
One thing that a PG like Williams can bring to the table besides giving Nash a rest is, in fact, allowing Nash to play off the ball a bit more. I would love to see the Suns employ Nash as a sharpshooter off the ball on occasion. Why the hell not? He's one of the best shooters in the league, and you take some of the wear and tear off throughout the season.
Having two guys that can distribute like Nash and Williams can never be a bad thing.

I don't think Kerr and Sarver will listen to Shaq after the way he let them down with his horrible play in the playoffs against Duncan, but at the same time, he can definitely help recruit J-Will if Phoenix really wants him...
But Lue already turned down Phoenix despite the fact that him and Shaq are good friends, so it's no guarantee that J-Will will come even though him and Shaq are also very good friends.

If Dragic can't come over this year. Almost anything's better than our current backup PG. So let me jump on the J-Will bandwagon. I only hope we sign SOMEBODY as our backup PG. Because it's been 3 off-seasons that we said we would adress that hole and we didn't. Enough.

Has anyone asked Steve if he desires the additional rest being talked about him getting from a backup PG?

Re: Shaq Wants J-Will To Join Suns
Yes, yesz. One of the few teams i really want Jason to go... The Phoenix Suns! Nash and Williams! Being a player fan, you can't ask for more!
A few concerns:
+ Jwill has seen much of the time in the injured list the past couple of years; the first part was more of a legit injuries the second one was about Miami having had a losing season already even if its December there was no reason or rhyme for him to press it. Now is he good to go for another run into a full season? i believe he can have starter minutes but ideal situation is give him back-up minutes (15-20 a game) so to not force those knees.
+ Will he accept a back-up role? Believe it or not, he NEVER came off the bench when he was healthy in Miami (Even an aging Payton assumed the back-up role) and he was effective with starter minutes. It's about time Jason learns that his body can only do so much and it is his in best interest (winning and health) to play back-up minutes and accept that back-up role. If there are players that he can respect... It's Shaq and Nash. So i see no problem there.
+ Turnover machine? No. Not in Miami. Ill-advised shots? Probably, but this is a 30+ year old we are
talking about, he has matured.
Yes, please sign him. He will help the Suns cause. Really.

Re: Shaq Wants J-Will To Join Suns
With our failure to exit the 1st round of playoffs with Shaq, the least he can do is attract some FA who'll play for cheap.
In terms of concerns brought up about J-Dub:
He is injury prone but I think it was because of grind it out style Miami had to play. The Suns system is much more fluid and with our shooter, it gives him a lot of space to move around and do his thing. Not to mention our world-class athletic trainers, should bring him back a few years.
Back-up role? Why not? He's playing behind 2-time MVP. Even CP3 may play backup behind Stevie, not that a coach would be stupid enough to play CP3 behind Nash, but yeah. Besides, his going rate in the NBA is hovering around 1-2mil max now anyway, I think he knows he's not the starter/7mil player he used to be. At his age, i honestly don't think he would mind taking a backseat and coming off the bench.
It'll also be great for someone like J-Dub to come and bring his playoffs/finals experience to our team. As we've all seen, an inexperienced combo guard like Barbs cannot lead us in the playoffs when Nash goes to the bench.
The question is, will he come? I thought about it, he's already got his ring, why not go to europe to play for more money? First off, he's got his family here, it's fine for younger players like Childress and Arroyo to move to Europe, but it's a big thing moving a family overseas. He's also got everything he needed to get in the NBA, a ring and money. There's nothing more he needs to prove or achieve in the Euroleague.
Not to mention, a chance to win another ring is always a nice thought.

Jason williams totally sucks dude, we should just start rebuilding now, like really. Nash plays no defense, shaq's washed up, grant can't shoot, barbosa's a midget 2 guard, diaw way to passive, bell cant dribble, stoudamire just cares about (stats), WERE DOOMED.

UMM..STFU
After all you've said..guess what??
WE'RE STILL A POWERHOUSE IN THE BEST CONFERENCE IN THE LEAGUE.
So, say what you want, but powerhouses don't just start rebuilding.

Re: Shaq Wants J-Will To Join Suns
Don't know about powerhouse, but definitely not time to rebuild.
I loved JWill in SAC, that pass he did in the rookie game to LaFrentz was amazing...also the runaway dunk on Elie...gold
Obviously not the same player, but definitely has the skills to give us 15-20mins and the odd start...and as others have said, he doesn't turn it over and the thing we need most is he CAN run a team and unlike DJ/Barbosa he can dribble within 3 meters of someone WITHOUT giving his dribble up in a child-like panic
