Dallas Mavs To-Do List: Shop Josh Howard????

Post#1 » by braves81 » Tue Aug 5, 2008 1:14 am

http://www.hoops4life.com/home/Sean-s-NBA-Column/Dallas-Mavs-To-Do-List-Shop-Josh-Howard.html

In April (during the NBA Playoffs), Josh Howard held a well publicized radio interview with Micheal Irvin, condoning the use of marijuana and confessing to his and fellow players usage of the substance.

On that same night, Howard suited up to play in game three of the Mavs-Hornets series and after its conclusion, distributed flyers to his birthday bash.

Mark Cuban addressed these issues and Josh apologized knowing that his reputation had taken a major hit.

Option Number Five: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard and PG/SG Jason Terry to Detroit for SG Richard Hamilton, SG Arron Affalo, and PF/C Amir Johnson.

I like this idea although I don't think Pistons will move Hamilton? maybe prince + ?

The best option in that article is Odom and Farmar for Howard and Stack. Stack is worthless to us now except as a trade piece. We definately need a backup PG to pair with Kidd. Farmar has an agressive style of play and can hit a few shots. He could make great strides under Kidd and Carlisle. Odom is very solid, but disappears in the playoffs (much like JHo did this year).

Im still not sold that we need to get rid of Josh. Again, Id rather package Damp and Stack for a backup PG and energy guy or center.

Option Number One: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard and SG Jerry Stackhouse to the Los Angeles Lakers for SF/PF Lamar Odom and PG Jordan Farmar. Never happen the Lakers are not going to mess with what got them to the finals.

Option Number Two: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard to Charlotte for Bobcats SF Gerald Wallace. Dream on!

Option Number Three: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard and C Erick Dampier for New York Knicks PF Zach Randolph and PF Malik Rose. one word vomit

Option Number Four: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard and cash to Toronto for SF/PF Jamario Moon, PF/C Andrea Bargnai, and SG/SF Anthony Parker. Great Dirk lite all over again

Option Number Five: Mavs send SG/SF Josh Howard and PG/SG Jason Terry to Detroit for SG Richard Hamilton, SG Arron Affalo, and PF/C Amir Johnson. Anyone heard of a guy named Prince in Det

I wouldn't do any of those trades.
The only one's close are Wallace, but he has way too many concussions to do a straight up trade and the the Detroit ones if it was Hamilton and Prince (instead of the group of scrubs) for Howard & Terry.

The only one we remotely benefit from is the Gerald Wallace trade and he's far to fragile.

I hate the idea of Odom at SF. He's a PF and thats what makes him so valuable.

but I don't think sixers will trade iggy + greene for howard?

I agree with the gerald one is the only I'll consider but he's too fragile.

if only pistons are willing to trade rip + prince for howard + terry.

I don't see us dealing both Rip and Prince. Maybe Prince/Filler for Howard, and even then...

Here's a novel idea...

Let's not trade Howard. His value is at an all time low and he probably will do phenomenally under Carlisle this year with a training camp with Kidd as well. Come on, the guy needs a distraction from his messed up life, basketball seems to be the trick. Keep Howard, period.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

This is the best i can come up with..... With this trade we get a young back up Pg, a Young SF to replace Howard and a somewhat good PF/C..... I know some of you are wondering what about bass Ok we trade him for something else.....

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Dallas and Seattle being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Dallas and Seattle had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

OKC say no. They can get more value overall from Chris Wilcox even when a team is willing to take Ridnour off their hands. Plus, Green is an up and comer. He was the #5 pick in last year's draft. He's not going anywhere. He's Durant's wingman. So, if you are looking to create trades with OKC, ask the one who lives in the OKC area if that trade would even fly with Presti and Bennett. Because trust me, it wouldn't.
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

That was going to be my point. Why would OKC want older mavs players for their rebuilding program?

If we are rebuilding, B Milla's trade is okay, but right now Howard >>>> Green. And Ridnour would be 4th string PG (Barea > Ridnour), and an expensive one at that. Cris Wilcox would be 3rd string PF behind Dirk & Bass.

Long story short, that trade sucks!

B.Milla trade is great but i don't see OKC doing that, because Green is in their future plans!

Jeff Green will be 110 % of JHo in 3-4 years believe it, he's a # 5-pick....
Right now he's already at 90 % in the next season, he's really good.

Plus we get Wilcox who is 10 times better than Bass...common he's the banger in the paint we want.
Could play some center minutes as well.

And we would get Ridnour, who's definitely not a 4th-string PG. JES12 you're undervaluing these players alot and overvaluing our bull.

Barea > Ridnour....common you're not so dumb

I like the OKC trade very much but OKC know the value of Green and they are smart enough to keep him.

Bass >>> Wilcox defensively. and all his stats are pretty similar on a per minute basis. And everything you said about Wilcox can be said for Bass. Given Bass' incumbancy, Wilcox would be 3rd string PF.

And Ridnour SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. And Barea as a 2nd year player did better than Ridnour did last your.

ImageImage

So in short, I know I'm not dumb, you don't need to reitterate that and maybe you are undervaluing what is right here in front of your eyes. Like I said, if we are rebuilding, it is okay, but we are not and since Bass >= Wilcox, Barea > Ridnour and Howard >>> Green, this trade blows!
