Either of those guys would be great pick-up for the minimum. Both would be big upgrades over Booth.

At this point, we can pretty much put me on stilts and it will be an upgrade over Booth. Stefanski has done a good job of freeing up cap space, of attracting the best free agent out there, of re-signing Williams go a good contract, of drafting a good player in the first round, and of signing two solid players for the minimum to be our 5th and 6th guards. I trust him to find a deep reserve who can play center and be better than Booth. Best part about it, if he signs a stiff, he will make the 2nd year of the contract a team option, not player option like genius Billy King did with Booth - of all of King's (Please Use More Appropriate Word) moves, that was probably the single stupidest one in terms of pure irrational stupidity.

David Harrison is a legit option for the minimum, 7 footer 4 years pro, who could get a block for us and a couple boards with minimal minutes. Doubt Deke or Theo would go for that price

also, Novak just got traded to the clips

I'd take Magloire over Booth. Booth is horrible. At least Magloire used to be a borderline all-star. I don't think he has much left, but there is always a chance he could salvage something.

I'd still like more depth at the 3 though. The only way I can see them getting another big man is if it is a center, because we are pretty much loaded at the 4 already. Jason Smith really isn't a true defensive, back to the basket center. Besides Sammy we really don't have anyone who can defend and play man defense. Magloire can play some d. He makes sense if Ed wants a big.

Not to change the topic, but I had to submit his move of signing Amal McCaskill to a guaranteed contract, and hence a roster spot, off of somebody else's summer league roster. He must've owed an agent a favor because McCaskill really didn't even have the talent to play in the CBA or NBADL, let alone the NBA.

Then we had to cut 2nd round picks who I would rather watch develop because Amal was guaranteed a contract. You could have found 50 unsigned guys in the summer leagues better than him.

I'm fairly certain he's still out there but I just don't know that we need him since he doesn't bring anything to this team that we don't already have. I believe the active roster is fairly well set and when we sign a veteran big man, that player will most likely be more of a player-coach who will mentor the young guys while wearing a suit on game night.

Again, I think Stefanski brings back Calvin Booth if he gets cut by Minnesota.

Jamal Magloire
Theo Ratliff
Francisco Elson

sounds good but i would prefer to have PJ Brown.

There is room in this team for only 1 Elton!
&
No room for ugly Ass Calvin either.

David Harrison is the number 1 option.

Earl Baron a number 2 options.

If he still wants to play and is willing to take the minimum, Theo Ratliff would be the number 3 option.

Well... we can cross Steve Novak off the list... I like K.Rush better anyway.

Not that i have any standing to talk whatsover, but SF1976's source had a tough offseason.... off the mark on the draft (Arthur) and role players Novak & Ollie....

I still believe his source exists; sometimes information just isn't right.... Or things change. I definitely understand.... And I appreciate all your contributions, SF....

How do you see David Harrison fitting in with the team and coaching staff? I thought it was Stefanski's goal to build a team of players of good character and absent of off-the-court distractions.

If i'm not mistaken, he was involved in the Pacers/Pistons Brawl, was suspended last season for violating the anti-drug policy (and later complained that the NBA shouldn't be allowed to invade players off-the-court lives) and I think he was suspended another time for having a temper tantrum in the locker room.

If all this is true, I'd rather stay away from Harrison, who wouldn't really contribute enough positives to outweight the possible negatives he'd bring.

He was involved in the brawl, but not any more than other Piston and Pacer players - he wasn't even suspended. He got named in a private law suit in connection with the brawl becaues he went into the stands, but he didn't touch anyone while in them and was a kid just out of college then.

He got suspended for pot use last season. Not sure if that's such a huge deal. I'm guessing half the guys in our locker room now smoke it and 50% of the players. He just got caught a few times and hopefully he won't get caught again. He hasn't had any issues with teammates or coaches. He has had issues with conditioning and being in foul trouble, but we're talking about a third string center to sign for the minimum here. At least he has potential and upside.

He seems to have been humbled by his experience in the NBA to date and appears repentent. Of course, it could be because he doesn't have a job, but he seemed sincere in the interview I saw where he said he has no one to blame but himself for not working hard enough his first few years in the league and that he just wants a chance to play for someone and that he doesn't care how much he would get - he just wants another chance.

In other words, he's no Bonzi Wells when it comes to off the court or locker room issues. And I would do a very careful background check on him and if bad stuff came up, I certainly would just skip the potential trouble. I do think it's important to have a harmonious locker room and have guys who are good in the community and obey the law.

He did get suspended for a game by the team as well by the way, but again, not a huge deal in my opinion. He got hit in the face bad enough to draw blood agains the Spurs, but no foul was called. He yelled at the official and got a technical. Jim O'Brien apparently pulled him from the game and they had some words because O'Brien, being a bit of an abrasive fellow as we all learned here, instead of calming Harrison down, tore into him for getting a technical, leading Harrison to curse at O'Brien, leading to the suspension.

Bring back Shav
Sign Gordon from summer league
And for the min. & last spot on bench, I'd entertain the Allan Houston comeback

With Jason Smith now going down, I'm going to say that we go after a bigger fish on the veteran free agent market. We now need someone who can play 10-15 minutes a night and so I think Theo Ratliff makes his way back here.

Actually, now that I think about it. Theo came to us from the Pistons the first time he was a Sixer, so this is somewhat fitting. Hopefully we will then trade him to the Hawks at the deadline just to keep his career moving in the same circle.

Still no confirmed reports that I've seen about the severity of Smith's injury.
