BTW, Glazer has done a fantastic job on this story, especially for a guy not associated with the behemoths known as TWWL and SI.

For better or worse, starting now the national media will leave the Packers alone. No more wall to wall coverage of Green Bay. It will all be Favre and the Jets from now on.

We're Packer Nation and we're on our own here for the first time since 1995 when the national media came on the Green Bay bandwagon after the SF playoff upset.

Couldn't agree more. Favre has been QB'ing this team since I was 12 years old. It's a solemn moment to actually see him traded. But I'm die-hard every TEAM in this state, and that is where allegiances lie.

It's time for Rodgers to prove quite a few people wrong, and make TT look good here. Rodgers now becomes the #1 story in all of this.

Agree with both of you. I was 5 when Favre began QB-ing this team. I don't remember a Packer team without him. It'll be tough to move on, but I was already there 5 months ago. I'm ready to see some fresh blood in Rodgers QBing this team.

At least Favre will have his boy Bubba Franks by his side.

And Mike Greenberg will be happy.

Yeah....Glazer has broken EVERYTHING on this story. Including his original retirement. I have to figure that Glazer has close ties with either TT, MM or a John Schneider/McKenzie. There is no way he gets all this otherwise.

I suppose if we get a sliding scale pick, we hope like heck the Jets and Favre do well.

You guys will get used to a new QB and be fine....I've seen plenty of them. As long as the team wins you'll be happy. I remember how great I thought the Majik man was for those 2-3 seasons. That season he had in 1989 was for me every bit as special as most of the Favre seasons. The sun will shine again over Lambeau.....

This is perfect because now I can cheer for Favre every week since we don't play the Jets and they are in an entirely different conference. This is going to be one hell of a season.

 I usually listen to the "Best of" podcasts of M&M during my workouts in the evening. Greenberg has been pining for Favre for the last two weeks.

Glazer must have incriminating photos on a lot of people. He's been the best in the business for a few years now at breaking stories.

I know this is all done now, but Silver just put up another excellent article. The part about Favre leaking everything and the effect it had on MM jives with what we were talking about earlier in the day.

Glazer gets info from inside the Packers, Favre gives info to ESPN and Al Jones, thank God Al Jones will go away.

I heard an interesting twist to why the Jets really want/needed Favre. They are going into there new stadium with the Giants and the Giants are making a TON of $$$ with the PSL's and the Jets believe they have a deeper season ticket base and wanted to charge more but they needed a hook, enter Favre.....they were really trying to get Favre to commit for 2 more years.....tons of irony there.

One last thing, Chris Carter was just speaking via phone on ESPN, the last question asked was who has the better team the Jets or the Packers, his answer was.........................................Green Bay, they have a ton of talent and Rodgers is going to be a very good QB in this league, just need to give him a little time, I guess I was a little surprised by that answer.

Carter has been behind the Packers throughout all of this. And the Packers do still have a better team than the Jets, no question.

Great link DB...I liked these parts:

"How blatantly did Favre disregard the wishes of his superiors? In his hours-long meeting with McCarthy on Monday night, one of the coach’s direct complaints to the quarterback was that he was tired of having their supposedly confidential conversations leaked in the press. McCarthy told Favre, point-blank, that he didn’t want to turn on his TV or computer after the meeting ended and see quotes from Favre, anonymous or otherwise, discussing the interaction.......

Yet on Tuesday morning, an article turned up on espn.com with numerous quotes from Favre. The quarterback said, among other things, the Packers had “planted” inaccurate stories about him and that “they tried to buy me off to stay retired” – a reference to the reported 10-year, $20-million marketing deal the team offered. Favre also provided specifics of his conversation with McCarthy, in direct violation of the coach’s previously stated wishes....."

I have enjoyed and appreciate Brett. He will always be great to me.
I support TT.
I like M3.
I love the Pack!

This has been a bummer.
Its sad it happened this way.
All sides could have done better.
We'll never know the truth of exact events.
Thank God its over.
Its time to move on.

Good Luck Brett.
You were a bit of a (Please Use More Appropriate Word) but I'm still a fan.
Thank you for accepting trade to Jets.
Go beat the Pat's ass.
Jets tied with Chargers as my #2 team.

NOW
Come on Rod - show your stuff
Screw the boo-ers
You now the man.
I'm pulling for you.

GO PACK GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to like the Packers, until their management/owner/coaches etc handled the best QB of all-time like trash. This is so idiotic, and I don't mean to be a jerk to all you Packers fans, but I hope they suck this year and Thompson gets fired.

On a side note, if the Jets wanted to trade Favre, say to Minnesota for a #1 pick guaranteed, could they?

I posted Carter's quotes from the Tirico show last week. Carter essentially said Brett Favre is mentally ill with a competitive streak of wanting to play.....and he'll never leave the field unless someone drags him off it kicking and screaming. He meant it both as a compliment and a rip, but it seemed more a rip at the time.

Im speachless, its kind of ironic the first time Favre suited up for the Green Bay Packers was the day before my 14th Birthday (aug 8 '92,pre-season) now his carrer with the Green Bay Packers ends 3 days before my 30th birthday.

Im just glad this whole thing is over though.

Best of luck to Brett and heres to (hopefully) kicking his ass in the Super Bowl.

You're in for massive disappointment. We will be a wild card team at the least.

Return to Green Bay Packers
