On a side note, if the Jets wanted to trade Favre, say to Minnesota for a #1 pick guaranteed, could they?

I think you actually need to read both sides of the story before you comment. You've clearly had your mind addled by Favre's spin.

As for your second point: No. That was more than likely addressed in the trade agreement, and secondly, their management would be blacklisted if they burned the Packers that way. No one would ever want to do business with them again. This is a gentlemen's league, after all.

I posted Carter's quotes from the Tirico show last week. Carter essentially said Brett Favre is mentally ill with a competitive streak of wanting to play.....and he'll never leave the field unless someone drags him off it kicking and screaming. He meant it both as a compliment and a rip, but it seemed more a rip at the time.

Yeah...he was on Mike & Mike this morning and basically said the same thing.

Glazer must have incriminating photos on a lot of people. He's been the best in the business for a few years now at breaking stories.

I know this is all done now, but Silver just put up another excellent article. The part about Favre leaking everything and the effect it had on MM jives with what we were talking about earlier in the day.

Awesome link DB....it is about time we start to hear both sides of the story.

The aftermath of this is fascinating to me, it looks basically like a civil war battlefield. I have always believed Favre's end game was to be a Viking and he was willing to trash the hell out of his former team, coaches, and take advantage of his zealot like fan base to achieve his goal. The Packers stared him down and in the end took every shot from ESPN and the zealots.......now he is a Jet, didn't get his way but we will be able to see just how bad he really wanted to play, because if he came back to just slap the face of his bosses it will show up in his performance. I just can't believe his heart will be into this season, plus this will be his first non- west coast offense.

Did the Packers handle this as well as it could have been handled? Certainly not, but Favre handled this entire situation far more poorly.

I came into this wanting to believe everything Favre said simply because he was and is my favorite athlete of all time, but that bias was not enough to cover up the inconsistencies in his stories and ultimately the fact that he has not handled this situation professionally.

The yahoo story really might be pointing out who really was pulling the strings in this whole saga.....Deanna Favre.

Maybe I am way off and Favre is the one to blame, but if one of the best QBs of all-time, who nearly took you to the super bowl the previous season wants to come back, you don't say no. I am just suprised that none of you are mad to see Favre traded. I am also an Indiana Pacers fan, and I know if Reggie Miller (our Brett Favre) wanted to come back and we traded him instead, I would be mad. Assuming he could still play (which he couldn't, but Favre still can) I would be mad because he'd be our best player and it is just sad to see him in another uniform.

Interesting. I'll wait until we get some confirmation but if I'm looking at this one objectively I'd say the deal is pretty fair.

This is REALLY very simple, I'll type slow....if Favre wanted to play for the Packers he would be playing for the Packers this year, he was given several opps to come back, he chose to move on awhile ago.....good night.

It's a sad day today. Even though I wanted this whole thing to be over, I can't imagine Brett Favre playing on another team. I wish Brett would have just stayed retired. Brett is a Packer, and will always be a Packer. These couple years in New York will be meaningless.

If that's true, that's a solid deal.

I'm done blaming or caring. I will always love Favre, as Whitney will always love you. I am ready for the new era and I am ready to see who becomes the new leader. My Jazz took 2 years between regimes to get respectable, I expect the Packers will take 2 less.

I think I got a better understanding of Favre here the past week. Hates confrontation....hates making a decision.....and if you put him in a position where he's got to do either, he melts down. But if you place him in a situation where he doesn't have to deal with confrontation or decisions, he's a really talented guy. Favre fits the profile of a great salesman in the business world.

That really was the problem here. Favre's a good guy, just wired differently. People have different strengths and weaknesses and Favre didn't have the skill set to deal with non-emotional, business side of what was happening to him here. So he melted down.

If I was one of the best players of all-time and treated unfairly by the organization I wouldn't want to be a Packer either. I guess I just believe Favre's side of the story more than the Packers. Well I took my name off of the Packers season ticket like (I think I was around number 75,000), so my great-great-grandkids can blame Thompson and company. Good luck this season.

Just curious, will most of you be rooting for or against the Jets now, or do you really just not care and want to move on and only worry about the Pack?

Doesn't that fit the profile? The strongest, maybe greatest QB ever is having Deanna call many shots here. The interesting thing is not that Deanna was calling the shots but the fact that Brett was probably relieved to have her making decisions so he didn't have to.
