Nationally Broadcast Games in 2008-2009

I made a list of the number of national broadcast games for each team:

L.A. Lakers - 25
Boston - 25
Phoenix - 25
Cleveland - 25
Dallas - 21
San Antonio - 19
Denver - 16
Detroit - 14
New Orleans - 13
Houston - 13
Portland - 13
Utah - 11
Orlando - 11
Washington - 11
Chicago - 10
Miami - 9
Golden State - 8
Philadelphia - 7
Toronto - 2
L.A. Clippers - 1
Milwaukee - 1
New Jersey - 1
Atlanta - 1
Memphis - 1
Oklahoma City - 1
Sacremento - 0
Indiana - 0
Minnesota - 0
New York - 0
Charlotte - 0

It makes sense for the popular teams like the L.A. Lakers and Boston to get so many games, but I can't understand the reasoning on some of these. How does Dallas get more than San Antonio, New Orleans, and Houston? Why only 11 for Utah & Orlando? I would also expect Philadelphia to get some more considering the big trade they made. I would expect more than just one for the L.A. Clippers considering all the moves they've been making. I feel bad for the five teams at the bottom of the list with no nationally broadcast games. I thought everyone was supposed to get at least one.

I could understand Cleveland, LA, and Boston getting 25. Phoenix to me is still unproven because with a new coach, I don't know how their offense is going to be. Dallas looks like they are on the edge right now and they are a 7-8 seed team so I don't know though about that one. I do want to say though that some teams that are top 4-5 seed teams got really low national broadcasted games.

This will change a lot during the season. As the season progresses they'll keep readjusting the national tv games. I know last year Portland had around a dozen games slated for national tv then Oden got hurt and it was trimmed back to like 2 until they played good and got a couple more games added.

Personally I think the NBA would be making a mistake IF this was set in concrete because they should show teams with potentially bright futures like Memphis and Minnesota at least a few times. Even if they can get better ratings with other teams it would be worth it to promote some of the younger players at least a little.
