My first post but a seriouse Twolves post)

Post#1 » by SpencerBusch » Thu Aug 7, 2008 5:58 pm

Well just a intro im Spencer and im 15. I have been a Timberwolves fan for as long as i remember. I was heartbroken when KG was traded but we did get a good deal back and i think last year was a good thing for the Timberwolves by giving them a good pick which got them some good players.

So here is how i think the roster shud go this year. If we carry 15 guys these are who i think we shud carry.

Buy out Calvin Booth.

Al Jefferson/Collin/Richard
Kevin Love/Al/Smith/Pops/Madsen
Miller/Gomes/Brewer
Mcants/Foye/Miller
Foye/Telfair/Jeter

Ok well we would carry 14 instead of 15 but still i believe that is a good combo of people. And maybe spend the 15th spot an another combo guard.

I like the Jeter and Pops pickup because Jeter is just about good at anything. Only reason he is not on a roster is cuz he is short. Pops in my opinion can play defense against the 3 4 and 5.

Then with the Draft Picks for this year id love to figure out a way to get 2 of these players. Tyler Hansbourogh (sp?) and Stephen Curry.

Now Jason Collins will be a unrestricted F.a Next year. So i say dont resign him so we can get Tyler and Stephen in the Draft and have enough players.

Obviously i believe 2010 is the year we splash for a big free agents. but keep in mind some free agents coming out in 2009 are Ai, Drew Gooden, Rip Hamilton, Sheed. We have some decents ones coming out. But TBH i say stay away from these free agents and wait till 2010.

But think of a roster like this year but drop collins to free agency and ad Hansbourough (sp?) and Curry? I mean just give me your opinion at this.

Im excited for this new Twolves team i believe we can be a possible 8th seed playoffs team this year and possibly win a championship in 2011!

Welcome Spencer. Great to have you on board.

I think you make some good points. I think Jeter is likely (Ahearn the other possibility) as our 3rd PG. I'd like to see Pops, but I think we're likely too crowded to have him on board, unless we make a trade. I think Booth is gone too.

As for next year I like Stephen Curry a lot. I think he needs to show some PG skills this year as right now he's an undersized SG, but if he can do that he'll likely move up in the draft. For guards Curry, Jennings, and the USC kid interest me right now.

I'm not as interested in Hansborough. I think he's a good college player who has a lot of energy, but is undersized to play PF in the NBA. Plus we're pretty deep at PF. Upfront I really like Thabeet and with a late 1st rounder I might look at Ogilvy.

Great first post. Keep posting.

If we are targeting a sg with our pick, assuming we are in the six to ten range I would really like to go with James Anderson. Looked great early last season at OSU then just seemed to drop off at the midpoint. With Sutton gone I think he will be able to shine as their primary scorer.

Welcome Spence, hope you dont mind if i call you that. Glad to have any real T'Wolves fans we can get on board. I agree with you on the Jeter thing and buying out Booth. I think the latter is almost a sure thing. Im not sure McHale will want a SL guard on the roster tho.

I love Pops' athletic ability and shot blocking and such but I think our front court is crowded as it is. We probably will have to scrape together minutes for Craigers and Gomes at the 4 this coming season. Plus I thought Pops was going overseas anyway?

I really like Stephen Curry, just not for this team. He is an undersized SG, we already have 2 of those as it is in McCants and when Foye plays some minutes at the 2 (not saying he isnt our PG). Not to mention Telfair who is an undersized PG. i really think he will be a good guard in this league

I do not agree with the Hansborough pick however. As karch mentioned, we have enough PF's already and I think Craigers is gonna be a better NBA player anyway. Hans really doesnt do anything that we cant already do on this team already, he is gonna get abused in this league IMO.

I agree with Karch and many others that like Thabeet in the next draft. He is a guy that can help this team alot and we can see how good Al/Love will be with a premiere shot blocker next to them. Ratliff 2.0. I would also look at drafting an explosive 2 if McCants is not a part of this teams future or a Jeff Green type SF. Who that player is right now I dont know.

Long first post Spencer ;)

Your roster looks fine to me i like it but i dont think pops will make it that would be to much at the PF :(

As we probably have many picks in this years draft we have plenty of options...

I'd love us to get Ricky Rubio Foye and Telfair are both solid at the point but this guy is just 17 years old and already dominating in europe (im from europe too ^^)...he probably will still need time to develop here but if he is available he is the only guy to choose. The problem might be that he'll probably go higher than we draft...I'd say throw in our draft pick + Foye/McC just to get him once he gets stronger he will also in the nba be a beast...

In case of the FA in 09 and 10 i think 09 might be our year...
Nearly every team has a plan for the year 10 we might have cap space in 10 but we still won't be able a true superstar guy....we can get an overpaid above average player/ old star but no one who could bring us near to a ring...
If there is a chance in 09 to grab a player that would fit in our roster...try and get him.

don't think we have a chance on the playoffs this year there are at least 10 teams above us but we will improve ;)

Those teams are...Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets, Spurs, Mavericks, Hornets, Rockets, Blazers, Jazz, Suns and probably also the Warriors

just think if Mcants and Foye could pan out how we think they can. Like Mcants a 20 ppg EVERY GAME! And Randy Foye hopefully can be a good PG and maybe have him average 15ppg 6+ assists! Just think how great we could be!

At this point I think Foye would be more likely to avg 20+ than Rashad.

Or if we had taken Danny Granger and Brandon Roy instead, like we should have. Then think how great we could be! :)

I think if Foye pans out he could be a 20-5-5 player. I think that is very possible, especially on this team with all the rebounder's we have, people aren't gonna be worrying about lil ole Foye til he put his nuts in their face a couple times ala Allen Iverson on Marcus Camby! AHHHH!!!!
