I thought Favre was impressive at the Jets presser. I liked how he handle both the Packers angle and Jets future. I heard what I wanted to from him. Like he and the Packers FO has said...time to move forward, it is what it is and each party made mistakes.

They just showed Favre on the sidelines, in a Jets hat, talking it Kellen Clemons.

WEIRD.

I was half listening to WSSP and they kept talking about Favre signing a new contract and some other stuff about another pick going or coming depending on whether Favre plays after this season. This was based on some Mort report. What's the story here?

Yes. If he gets traded to the Vikings the Packers get the Jets' next 3 1st round picks. At least that is what I heard on multiple stations.

The media said that the Jets made a better offer than the Bucs, so i'm curious how weak the Bucs offer had to be given that IMO the Jets didn't have to give up much at all?

A 3rd round pick isn't much to give up to upgrade the QB position, even if it's only for a year or two. Plus there is the added bonus of a much higher national profile of the franchise by having Brett on the team.

Christ you think the Jets are getting the 1996 version of Brett Favre judging from watching Monday Night Countdown. Every one picked the Jets as having a a better record than the Packers, even though they do have an easy schedule. I don't see them better than 9-7 though. Although Cris Carter, and kind of Emmitt Smith, said the Packers did better in the trade...the whole panel laughed for about a minute when Wingo said the Packer brass could look brilliant if Rodgers plays to their expectations. Everybody talks about Favre having a chip, I would have to think Aaron Rodgers has to have the biggest chip in the league. I hope the Packers have another huge year.

Rodgers can play with a chip all he wants, but, like Brett, he is going to have a lot of eyes on him. It is one thing to talk, it is another to back it up with play.

As he put it himself, people should just get on board, or shut the hell up.

Ok I found it...listen to this Mort report..

http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/vid ... Id=2459789

At the end, he sneaks in this bit about how the Packers have to send the Jets back a 5th round pick if Favre only plays one year......where is our media on this detail?

Well, IMO Favre will only play one year, and play at least 50% of the snaps, with the Jets not making the playoffs. So that would be their 3rd for our 5th. Ehh, I'm still fine with it.

He's under contract of the Jets now, so he couldn't MAKE them release him, but technically the Jets could release him if THEY chose to do so.

I think its irrelevant as he's not going to get released. That city appears to be pretty jacked to get Favre and that is a big reason why the Jets acquired him. Those fans, which they need for a new stadium, would be IRATE as some of our Favre/Packer fans if they released him.

Well after watching ESPN tonight, its a given Favre will get his 4th MVP this year, the Jets are Super Bowl contenders, and the Packers are screwed.

I kind of like this though, some people may be writing off the Pack right now and it allows them to slip under the radar to an extent maybe. Obviously there will be plenty of attention, but if I was on this team I would be geared up to go prove the team is good and it wasn't Favre that carried the team last year.

Part of me wishes we would've traded Favre to the Vikings.

1. He gives them a 2 year window, maximum, to win. We get a high draft pick or two and all the sudden we hurt them and help ourselves for the future.

2. Say the Vikings actually DO win the Super Bowl with Favre. I would enjoy reminding my Viking fan family members that it took having a Packer on their team to actually do so.

To be fair to the media, anytime a team has an unproven QB, there is going to be a fair amount of skepticism and a wait and see view.

The quarterback position in the NFL is so vitally important, if a teams QB doesn't play at least solid to good, it's really hard for that team to win a lot of games. Yea Favre wasn't the only reason the Packers won 13 games last year, but he played a pretty damn big role in it. No NFL team can go 7-1 their first eight games while having a terrible running game unless their QB is playing at a very very high level.

So i can understand why many in the media recognize the Packers have talent, but until they see Aaron Rodgers play consistently good football over multiple games, they are going to without judgement to a degree on how good they think the Packers will be. Aaron has plenty of skills and has been able to sit back and learn the NFL game, so there is reason for us fans to be excited about his future. Until he goes out there though week after week and performs well, he's still an unproven commodity at the most important position in the game. While i really like his chances to succeed, i by no means think it's a certainty that he will or that he'll stay healthy.

My buddy and I got Farve's autograph on Jets mini helmets tonight...

He wasn't all that talkative, but graciously signed autographs before the game...

It was kind of annoying listening to the ESPN guys tonight because it seemed to me like they where realy making the Packers out to be the bad guys in this whole thing.

You woulda thought Brett Favre never retired in March and the Packers just up and threw him out the door the way they where acting.

Thats ESPN though, just 2 years ago some of those same guys ecspecially Ton Kornhieser where basically saying Favre was done/washed up and was tarnishing his legacy by continuing to play.

Its almost as bad/annoying as the hard core Favre fans calling for TT's head but then when you ask them why Favre threw damn near 30 ints in 2005 they say it was because Favre didnt have any weapons.

I dont think I have ever seen many people put their foot in thier mouth in my life as I have the past couple days.
