Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
Where can I view the schedule? I read it was delayed due to the OKC move.
In any case, schedule permitting, I'd personally like to arrive in LA on or around the 26th December, make it to Vegas for New Years, then head down to Phoenix, spending maybe 3 weeks there. If there's a small road trip, do our own small road trip to Mexico.
How's that sound to everyone? SDU? NF? Tastic? Mace you could even meet us in Phoenix if you're thinking more January and continue on to the East Coast in Feb when we leave?

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
Hmmmm
I feel if I'm going to travel all that way (18+ hours) I may as well meet you idiots in Sydney and we have an ale or two on the way over...Road Trip would be wicked...I went to Tijuana when I was 13 or so and HATED it...so dirty and beggars everywhere!
I guess if that's when we go, that's when we go...I'll just have to get extra frugal and search the couch for some spare change and do more tricks for the old ladies at work
I'm off to Surfers next Saturday for 10 days, so will still try and jump on the board every so often...Brisbane better be nice and fine ya bastards

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
personally, schedule dependent i was hoping to be there by the 28th also to catch the NFL game in phoenix
nevets, flying on the 26th might be a worry, flights onthe 24th 25th and 26th of december all have a $600.00 premium on them due to the christmas crap
i would leave the 27th here i reckon - once again all schedule dependent so ill wait till i see it before going too far
i can only go for a max of 3 weeks, but intend to do more than 1 road trip, NYE in vegas would be sweet, then from there i dont care, mexico, texas, florida whatever, ill go somewhere
our flights will come in through LA, even though ive been there and done that, for those that want to i reccommend arriving in teh AM, doing a 1 day tour around LA, see the sights get the photos then transfer on to phoenix ?
dunno
bring on the schedule, till then its all speculation

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
Here's an idea Staff, if your max is 3 weeks and NF and myself can stretch it to 4, why don't we leave LA to the very end. That way you're not wasting time seeing something you've already seen and we can check it out after we ditch you?
Tastic are you staying in Brissy at all? If so PM me your itinery and i'll try to catch you for a beer. Pretty flat out at work this week but we'll make it happen mate.

Unsure about Bris, itinerary is pretty full on at the moment. I'll flick you my cell (or grab it off Staff...though I think you have it already?) and will try make it happen.
Going to the Titans game the day after we get there, then doing all the dreamworld/movieworld business...laxing and whatnot...

C'mon impulsenine, your better than that. Getting my hopes up and getting me all excited and stuff, that is what my Wife is for.

Sounds fine by me, but maybe a little bit shorter in time frame. I am much like SDU in that I want to be there for 3 weeks, plus traveling time.

Hey I resent that, I don't drink beer.

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
schedule is out
looks plausible to see the cardinals vs the seahawks on the 28th of December
then head to vegas for new years eve
come back to see the clips on the 2nd
have 5 days off to do a road trip to somewhere
come back for matches against indiana and dallas
then head to LA to see LA and watch the clippers game
come home for the atlanta game
watch the denver road game at majerles
catch the minnesota home game
then head up to toronto to see russ, hire a car, head to bean town to see the celtics and then on the way through we spend our last few days in new york and see the suns vs dantoni and the knicks at the mecca of basketball
could be better (like i dont want to see the clippers twice or the pacers at all) but it could be worse and that eastern road trip rocks!
]; thoughts?

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
okay team, after consulting the wife, its not really preferred that I go for an entire month. I am welcome to, but we both agree its a bit harsh especially with
riley only being 9 months old at the time
i searched for alternatives to this and liked what i found!
using a round the world ticket i propose we leave australia on the 10th of January - use our contact in japan to stay there for 2 nights,
leave the 13th andthen head to london and use my contact there to stay for another 2 nights, (we must stop on 3 continents to get the cheaper round the world ticket)
leave the 16th and then head to toronto for the 16th of January.
Meet up with russell there, hopefully he can put us up, piss on all weekend then go see the suns take on nathan jawai and the raptors on sunday the 18th of January.
leave toronto the 19th of January, Leave first thing the next morning and get into boston in time to see the suns celtics game that night
spend the 20th as a day of sightseeing around boston
21st, leave boston and head to new york and watch the suns vs dantoni and the knicks at MSG
22nd, full day of sightseeing in new york, staying the night in new york
23rd, leave nyc in the morning and head to charlotte, watch the suns bobcats in charlotte that evening
24th is optional, either stay in charlotte for a days sightseeing and head to atlanta the next day, or head to atlanta straight away and use the next day to
sightsee in atlanta - have to decide where we would like to spend more time - charlotte or atlanta?
25th, either heading to atlanta or spending time in atlanta then seeing the suns hawks game that night
26th leave atlanta for washington and see the suns wizards that night
27th- full days sightseeing in washington
28th - leave washington for phoenix or someother destination on the way to phoenix (texas?)
29th in phoenix to sightsee and see the suns spurs game
30th - trip to grand canyon or las vegas for the day?
31st - see the coyotes game at 7pm then the phoenix then suns vs chicago at 9pm? can this be done?
then either stay in pho till the 2nd and watch the suns kings game or leave phoenix head to LA and spend a day touring LA and then
get out flights back to down under
this option is preferable for me because it allows us to see the same number of games, except we see 4 extra cities, better teams (including the spurs)
flights will be cheaper because xmas is over and its also 6 days shorter than the other trip which is a big plus for my family. its also a little later which helps
mace im sure
what are your thoughts?

Sounds good but i'd really like to be there by new years.. although the eastern road trip would be sweet, and I have friends in Boston, NC, Washington and Atlanta.. hrmm..
.. and my current rental lease expires on the 17th January too..
.. maybe i'll head over for New Years and stay the whole month of Jan with you guys?
New Year -> End of Jan = 15/82 possible suns games :O

Re: OT: Calling All For Destination Phoenix 2009
That schedule rocks. Letterman would rock as well. I would be keen as to see that. We could all dress up in our Suns/Team gear and tell the producers we have come all the way from Australia/New Zealand.
I'm sending out some quote requests now to see what we can find out.
