I've floated this a few times and gotten no response; but is there anything keeping us from luring Brandon Roy away from the Blazers? I mean, hypothetically; if tragedy befalls them and they somehow end up with a record worse than ours in 1 or both of the next two seasons; why couldn't we throw our cap space at Roy? I think that would be an ideal addition.

Is he likely to sign an extension before then-- is that why I'm not getting any bites?

I don't think he would like to sign with the team that drafted him then traded him on the same day. And also, i think his on top of portland's priorities. I'd love to see Roy sporting a twolves jersey, i just don't see it happening.

Wow. Pet Shop Boys and Dangerous Toys mentioned in the same thread. This might be the greatest thread ever.

As we probably have many picks in this years draft we have plenty of options...

I'd love us to get Ricky Rubio Foye and Telfair are both solid at the point but this guy is just 17 years old and already dominating in europe (im from europe too ^^)...he probably will still need time to develop here but if he is available he is the only guy to choose. The problem might be that he'll probably go higher than we draft...I'd say throw in our draft pick + Foye/McC just to get him once he gets stronger he will also in the nba be a beast...

Speaking of Ricky Rubio the other day I wondered what the big deal was about this kid so I started doing some sleuthing. At first I was like......ummm this is just some skinny 17 year old white kid with a weird setup to his jumper. Then I started to see his crazy skills..he's dang quick and can penetrate with ease, plays phenomenal defense and plays the passing lanes like few or no other. He can finish at the rim and from deep not to mention his passing skills are probably the best I've ever seen. He seriously looks like a better Steve Nash. That's 2 time MVP Steve Nash I'm talking about. Of course I expect it to take 2-3 seasons for him to adjust to the NBA game and develop a NBA type body. Maybe I'm exaggerating but.........maybe not.

I wish he'd adjust with ease but in the last couple of years there were only a handful of euros that made the transition well. I'm quite sceptical about Rubio because I'm not so sure if he's athletic enough to compete in the NBA.

That's very true basti. That would be a huge concern for me as well. The talent is just so much better I don't know if he'd get away with a lot of the same things he does while playing in europe. He can penetrate over there which creates for himself and mostly other people but like you said he probably won't be able to do it with as much ease here in the nba.
