ex-Nugget Yakhouba Diawara....

Post#1 » by torres213 » Thu Aug 7, 2008 11:51 pm

Hey Nugget nation, heat fan here. Just wondering if any of you could give me some insight on how this kid performans on the court, and what he could amount to given he has the oppurtunity 1-3 years down the road.. I hear his defense is exceptional, but thats about it. So can any of you give me a lil 411 on the on the guy??

You have heard correctly. He is a very talented defensive player, who can *occasionally* hit a three, but isn't very good at that even. He has no mid-range game, no post game, and hardly any perimeter game. He lacks elite athleticism, he looks very awkward handling the ball, and he is average at best moving without the ball.

He is never going to be a starter in this league, but he easily could develop into a solid defensive stopper/roleplayer. He really just needs to improve everything besides his defense.

Who says he'll never be a starter? He just needs to get more playing time and develop some reputation with the refs so he can get away with fouling everyone like Bowen does.

His shooting isn't that bad either, he was shooting 42.9% from three as a starter. He's just a young player, who Karl ruined with his favoritism of AC. Good luck to him with the Heat. Coach there isn't a total **** moron.

Your not going to get any argument from me about Karl misusing Khouba (hell he misused every on the roster). However, I definitely stick by the statement that I never see him as a legit starter in the NBA. His offense is just too much of a liability, and he does not have the pure elite athleticism to overcome it. Definitely a solid role player, I guy who can come off the bench and give you 20 minutes of defensive stoppage, but a guy who will always stagnate the offense to a certain extent.

everyone had to know that kuba wouldn't be back with the signing of D.jones.

kuba was a solid defender but just not athletic enough to keep up with the offense.jones I believe will be a much better fit as a slasher and finisher and just as good defender.jones may be the 2nd most athletic player on the team behind jr.let's see if he can crack karl's rotation....kuba couldn't.
trust me...i know what the hell i'm talking about!

Yeah, I'll agree he may have never developed in to being able to be a full time starter, but the Nuggets were playing a lot better with him on offense and defense, over AC. I think if Karl wasn't such a (Please Use More Appropriate Word), Yak may have become better. I definitely think the Nuggets do a lot better in the playoffs against LA with a year long seasoned Yak over AC starting.

Khouba is a great role player who will come in and give your opposing teams best perimeter player a very tough time, hes just very raw offensively but I think he could develop into a starter in this league... people forget he was playing the 4 at pepperdine

He would've have been an OK fit with Denver seeing they needed defense and it's OK if they don't need to score. Melo and AI could handle that. I've always taken a liking to Diawara.

I think he just needs to get more experienced offensively (aside from in general), and in terms of skill, develop a jumpshot out to three. Then just continue to work on playing the game, fitting into the team, and he can be like a bigger more athletic Bruce Bowen.

He is a very, very good defensive player. Can guard any player 1-3 in the NBA. A poor-mans Bruce Bowen defensively. Unfortunately he gets absolutely no respect from the officials which really limits his abilities.

Offensively he is god awful. I have always said he is the worst offensive player in the NBA. God awful finisher. Can't hit the three consistently (most teams wouldnt even guard him, hoping he would jack up a trey). Bad passer. Can't put the ball on the floor. Jut plain horrible offensively.

If nothing else he is a good practice guy, bringing solid defense against the starters every day.
